The reason the coming battle is goated isn't just its production quality--it's the understanding that the relationships between the main characters are deeper and more complex than they initially appeared to be and seem to involve historical and political circumstances that will become central elements to the plot. Most of us didn't patiently keep watching this anime as kids or adolescents just to feast on well-directed and flashy fights. We realized there's actually a meaningful and thought-provoking plot underneath all the conflicts and rivalries.

And that's what I hate about people who disregard shounen like this. Just because fans hype up some well animated fights, people who aren't into it assume that's the main appeal of the genre or these shows for people. I mean, if people only cared about action, why not watch boxing, mma, or whatever? There's so much complexity to this show from the politics to the very history of the shinobi world.

I mean, it's not Sasuke's fault that the Leaf boys tried to save him. But the fact that he doesn't show any consideration for the loss of his comrades' lives is pretty messed up. It makes him no different from Itachi in his callousness in murdering their parents and his clan. Yes. Sasuke lost people that were dear to him and it's understandable why he would want to pursue his brother. But killing Itachi will only satisfy his desire for revenge. Not his loneliness.

As a Naruto glazer myself, OG Naruto is a solid 7.5 and nowhere near the "greatest anime". It's Naruto Shippuden that really completes the whole story in terms of writing, execution and so on. Shippuden on a good day is an easy 9.5 and definitely on par with Attack on Titan or even better.

The first two arcs of Shippuden are a 6 at best. It only gets to a 9.5 somewhere in the middle. Then it slowly declines, eventually dropping to a 6 again, and quickly rises to maybe an 8 toward the end. On average, I'd say it's still a 7.5.

I guess in spite of Sasuke wanting power, he didn't want to go about it in the way that Itachi suggested (initially). But after getting humiliated by Itachi in their first encounter after the massacre, he changed. He saw that he wasn't getting strong fast enough. And seeing Naruto rapidly grow frustrated him since Naruto used to be below him in skills and strength.
