Easier way to do 25 would be that since we know that the area of the square is 18 we can square root the 18 to get the side of 1 side. And then you just multiple that side by 4 to get the perimeter.

So for question number 31, the question asks "How many indicated that they do not like comedies?" it isn't asking for a fraction but the entire problem is about fractions. so, instead of saying 80, couldn't I say 1/3 as in 1/3 of those surveyed don't like comedies. the answer key doesn't have 1/3, so im confused why that's wrong because the question doesn't specify how to write the number

How did you notice the subtracting the square in the equation for number 25? Were there other ways to go about it?
@OverclockingCowboy
@OverclockingCowboy 19 күн бұрын
The area of the shaded region is given as 36pi - 18. Since the shaded area is equal to the circle area minus the square area, you can “speculate” that 36pi (is the circle) and 18 (is the square). To quickly verify: 36 pi = pi r(r) which gives you r = 6. Given that r=6, the square area becomes (1/2)(6)(6) = 18. The square area is confirmed. You can now calculate the perimeter.
@OverclockingCowboy
@OverclockingCowboy 19 күн бұрын
You can also just go ahead and calculate the shaded area (circle - square) pi (r)(r) - (1/2)(r)(r) = 36 pi - 18 (r)(r) = (36pi - 18) / (pi - 1/2) = 18(2pi - 1) / 1/2(2pi-1) = 36 From which we have r = 6. You can now compute the perimeter.

He set up a table between price/meal and number of meals. As the price goes up by $4, number of meals drops by 80 (same as an increase of $0.50 leads to decrease in 10 meals). Then, he calculated the total sale for each price. TABLE for price, number of meals, total sale $12. 400. $4800 $16. 320. $5120 $20. 240. $4800 etc $16 gives the highest total sale.

Mister Sheesh is right. Here is my reasoning: sales = price * meals S = (12 + 0.5x)(400 - 10x)= -5x^2 + 80x + 4800 where x is the number of $0.50 price hikes that decreases the number of meals sold by 10 for each price hike. S = -5(x-8)^2 + 5120 in vertex form. The number price hikes to maximize the sales is 8. The price for maximum sales is 12 + 8 = $20 for $5120 in sales.
@franciscopham1841
@franciscopham1841 2 жыл бұрын
@@franciscopham5586 8 price hikes at $0.50 each is $4 dollars more than $12. The answer should be $16.

Why D can't be the answer on q no 22? If angle BAC is equal to the angle EDF, it satisfies the AAA congruency rule. Why won't we choose it?
@chalimatipa6787
@chalimatipa6787 2 жыл бұрын
I think it’s because we already established the angle as 97. So they are asking for another reason why and the definition of congruency should be like same size and shape so we know they are the same shape because the angles are the same but the size (length) being equal makes it congruent. I think D would make them similar triangles but not congruent Idk idk if that made sense 😅😅

For problem 14, if you wanted to set up a quadratic, how would you do that? Or is it easier to just plug in the answer values (that's how I did it but I was wondering if a quadratic would be easier) Update: 780 math! Thanks!
@OverclockingCowboy
@OverclockingCowboy 19 күн бұрын
You need an equation for total sale that relates price/meal and number of meals. Then you have to find the price that maximizes the total sale. You also have to figure out what your constraints are. For example, you start with 400 meals. That is very time consuming. Just create a small table just like he did. Drop the number of meals by 80 starting from 400 for each increment in price of $4.

There is no quadratic equation. He was just thinking out loud. You are better off creating a small table just like he did. If you like equations, they look like M = 400 - (10/0.50) (P-12) where M = number of meals, 0
@OverclockingCowboy
@OverclockingCowboy 19 күн бұрын

So on question 4, why do you cross multiply. If X is on the top you just have to multiply by the denominator on X's side, less operations, less chance for errors.
@OverclockingCowboy

He has the same number of operations as you: one multiplication and one division.

how is the mean of B less than A in nb7, there is 1 value added only in A pls help
@OverclockingCowboy
@OverclockingCowboy 19 күн бұрын
Data set A has one outlier at 60/70. This will pull up the mean (or average) of A relative to B. You can use GPA as an example. Let us say that your current GPA is A for 10 courses. If you take an additional course and get an F (an outlier), that course will pull down your GPA. Your new GPA will be less than A.

@OverclockingCowboy 19 күн бұрын
3 similar angles does not prove congruence. It only proves they are SIMILAR. The question is asking for congruence (meaning identical or same shape and size). Similar means same shape but not necessarily same size. You need SAS, ASA, AAS to prove congruence. AA or AAA only proves similarity.

@OverclockingCowboy
@OverclockingCowboy 19 күн бұрын
For |x+7| = 4, you have 2 solutions x = -3 and -11. The quantity inside the ABSOLUTE VALUE notation (x+7) can be +4 or -4. After the absolute value operation, the inside quantity -4 becomes +4.

#11, why di u divided for 0.8 and not 0.2 i mean 20% is not 0.2?
@OverclockingCowboy
@OverclockingCowboy 19 күн бұрын
If you get 20% discount, that means you pay 80% of the original price. So $14 = 0.80 P and P equals 17.50. The 20% discount is equal to 0.20x$17.50 = $3.50. The price you paid is 0.80 (17.50) = 14.
