The fact that in the Sims 2, they can be upset over a deleted object is one of my favorite details, and it works because Sims actually have relationships with objects coded into the game! It’s the same reason ghosts often go back to their old beds and cheer when it’s still there, or sims missing an object when it’s stolen by a burglar. The game uses this in place of something like the Sims 4’s bed assignment system, because it makes the sim recognize something as belonging to them. It’s a really subtle and sophisticated system going on in the background!

the issue is sims 4 dont need fixing because it cant be fixed. the game is already way over its capacity with all the content it has . they can just modernize the ui and such but the game is still like roblox. when you click play on an household it starts running the game with the sims and the world+house of the save and just places sims in that world. when you switch households or travel, the game fully reloads everything hence the long loading times. so there is no way for open world because of the households. you can have tons of sims and a huge world but there will still be one lot and one household. this game started development in 2008 as a fully online game. but they did add better graphics better multi core rendering (simulation and loading is still very limited and not multithreaded so load times and simulation lag will never get better so thats another limitation for running many sims at once.) they need to make a new game that can use the sims 4 world save and pack data to run but that is insannee work and ea would never do that. they will keep with sims 4 because it is actually still good enough. the sims 3’s lag is way worse so we dont have anything to compare to anyway. sims 4 still runs tens of gbs of mods really well while also having all packs installed. so the game is good enough

I was so done with the sims 4, I literally opened the game wanting to have fun but ended up getting frustrated. I decided to went back to the sims 2. I don't regret it at all, it's so much better and lively considering that the sims 2 is a 20 year game. Besides, it's actually very easy to fix the compatibility issues, there is a lot of videos on youtube that explain on detail how to do it (if annyone is interested, i used a video from Devilish Simmer called "The sims 2: Tutorial - Part 1 - Working On Windows 10 + 11", it worked very well for me).

It's more just corporate greed, I think. These decisions are coming from the top, from executives who don't actually work on or care about the games. All the corporate side sees is that The Sims 4 is a seemingly perpetual cash cow. So rock the boat with a new game when you can just keep milking and milking and milking. As long as people keep buying packs, EA has no incentive to create Sims 5. We knoooow they are greedy and care more about shareholders. The thing I hate about this the most is I know some big wig thinks that they have fixed all the code problems by putting that poor dedicated team on bugs without restructuring everything else about production around bugs and performance. I really hate the online aspects they already have. Countless hours thinking mods or cc were broken and trying to fix an issue in build mode. Turns out I had no issues. My internet went out and everything is on my PC. Ya’ll my game has never run better. No bugs. Turns out playing “offline” isn’t really offline. Turned off my WiFi connection on my laptop, no issue. Turned on and almost immediately issues. I don’t mind a backup in my ICloud, but the game should not be trying to run from the cloud . . . It is all on my PC. Why??? Just why? Thought I was insane.

The fact that in the Sims 2, they can be upset over a deleted object is one of my favorite details, and it works because Sims actually have relationships with objects coded into the game! It’s the same reason ghosts often go back to their old beds and cheer when it’s still there, or sims missing an object when it’s stolen by a burglar. The game uses this in place of something like the Sims 4’s bed assignment system, because it makes the sim recognize something as belonging to them. It’s a really subtle and sophisticated system going on in the background!

I've been playing since the Sims 2 and I think I haven't properly played the Sims 4 in about nearly 2 years. maybe like once every 3 months I'll hop on to check something out, but even then I'll just spend hours in create a sim, place them in the world, try to play with them and then get bored within half an hour. it's so so stale

It's disappointing that they will stick with Sims 4, I played Sims 3 extensively and have recently started playing Sims 4 again after barely dabbling with it at launch. Sims 4 seems like a poorly built graphical update but a downgrade of gameplay from Sims 3 It would help if they reduced the price of the DLC for older Sims packs/expansions. basically, their 80 million player base will disappear once the competition hits the market, they have had the monopoly for over 20 years, and in the next 12 months they may have 2 competitors with better products with more consumer-friendly business models

Its so painful!!! I’ve been waiting for 10 years, 10 YEARS to get back into sims, I’ve been playing The Sims since the 1st series and I got all the series and expansions but when I played The Sims 4, I hated it, so I stopped, but I’ve been patience all this time, watching KZbinrs all those years and getting excited for every new expansion trailer to see if its the one that get me back into the game but nope they’re all broken and overpriced, empty shells made of greed, and now when it finally seems like we see the light to the end of this tunnel EA is telling me that they want to keep the worst version of my beloved game running FOREVER, this is beyond cruelty!!!. I think it's time to mourn and move on, I will play inZOi and support Paralives which is made from a small company of ex simmers, I just hope that the KZbinrs that I love and follow will make videos of those games too. RIP to The Sims…

They should just remaster The Sims 3, and still allow us to use our original expansion packs, then start making new updates and expansions in a modern remastered Sims 3 engine, perhaps while also keeping the Sims 4 around for a bit longer. Then at least players that want what The Sims 3 has for game play, can continue playing it, and even buying new official expansions for it. I'd love to buy a new Sims 3 expansion if they remastered it and updated it. Seems like they want to support multiple Sims games at the same time, so at least give us a Sims engine that a lot of people really enjoyed.

@stxarryeyed9523 It's already difficult to run The Sims 3 on some modern systems, so if they at least released a remastered version it will give players just one more way to try the Sims 3 if the original version was too buggy for them. I find on the right hardware, The Sims 3 can run decently well with minimal issues. Still love playing World Adventures from time to time, as that is something that is really lacking in The Sims 4.

The Sims 4 is literally dead as soon as any competition arrives. They weren't even able to capture their own audience that still sticks to Sims 3 to this day. Everyone who loves realism will instantly switch to inZOi and everyone who loves a more stylistic game will instantly switch to Paralives. Who even asked for an MMO Sims game? Literally all you need to do is make Sims 3, but with ability to invite your friend and play in the same town as different families

I want Sims 3 but with lore and one-sided relationships like Sims2.. From Sims 4 i want diversity/representation, multitasking, quick shower (why my TS3 Sims take shower for hours😂😂😂) and some ideas that were fun, but deserve a better implementation (like Growing Together, i actually like the idea that personality of my Sim can be affected during gameplay, that opens so much storytelling potential; but ofc EA implemented it in most annoying and unrealistic way...) edit: and i want ts4 travel to different worlds (but it should cost money and time). You know, not only going on vacation or uni, but for example you live in small town, but sometimes you make travel to big city nearby, for example for event or meeting with friends, things like that?

Plenty of us have wanted an online Sims gave for a LONG time. I don't understand why so many people are so VIOLENTLY anti-social when it comes to a simulation game. It would be just like interacting with random sims anyways, but it would be less goofy bc it's not all AI, lmao! But the only way they're ever going to add online stuff is going to be to make it either it's own standalone, or an opt-in feature. No one will be forcing your delicate hands to click on speech bubbles with a sim controlled by a real person - you can still rest assured knowing that when you click speech bubbles, you'll still have AI sims barging into your conversations and kicking over trashcans and half-making white cakes...no REAL people at all to ruin your immersion of having 10 half-made white cakes in your living room.

They wanted a new game and they would’ve been fine with having a multiplayer option in that. But they do it in the most hated Sims Game in the most empty one and the most disconnected one. I have an idea how to let people not feel bad about all the things from their Sims 4 expansions not carrying over into Sims 5. Ready? How about... starting from a basegame that can stand on its own two legs and isn't just a barebones facade of a game designed to drip-feed small vignettes of gameplay over the rest of eternity? Sims 4's launch was a disappointment to previous Sims' players because it had less depth than any of the pervious base games. From what I barely remember, it didn't even have swimming pools, and no doubt was planning to sell them later, but I imagine customers shamed them into adding that in a free update to earn back at least a shred of good will. And the saddest thing is, what feels like a trillion years later, we can still see the bones of that naked skeleton still poking through the gaudy accessories they've heaped over it since. Over time, the core game has been patched up with content that should have been in there since the start, but somehow it still feels utterly void of meaningful gameplay without DLC, and even the DLC largely feel like disconnected theme parks that you can visit for a day before returning home to do... nothing. And this is the foundation they're happy with? I feel really bad for the devs, because I feel like none of them were even invited to the meeting that sentenced them to a life of hard labour in the Sims 4 mines.

tbh this kinda sounds like a recipe for the stagnation of the franchise? They are addicted to the s4 pack profit stream, and have decided to not evolve past it sounds like. It would be amazing if they could "overhaul" or "fix" the base game, but i think we understand at this point that realistically cant be done on top of the badly built code thats already there in the foundation. like patching a roof, eventually you need to replace the roof.... project rene and everything else in the "hub" sound like doors to micro transactions... not where i want to be headed as a player. how many themed kits can we really take, seriously. im so sad lmfao

EA saying, "there are too many players for the sims 4 that we don't wanna leave behind," aka, "there are still so many idiots for us to comically shake by their ankles until we've taken every last cent." This game is as old as my half sister (she was born a month before the sims 4 launched) and she's about to start 5th grade...games do in fact get old. New versions need to be made because games start to lose their integrity the longer they run, look at the older sims titles. Granted, sims 4 has always had as much integrity as it's producer, just in different ways. Can't believe I'm making an argument for EA to start another sims game to keep milking the fanbase dry
