Two reasons why the decimation of the Assyrian army in Judah in the days of Hezekiah is significant:
1. There is a unique correlation and agreement from three sources of this biblical event from over 2700 years ago:
a. Bible (Isaiah 36-37, 2 Kings 18-19, 2 Chronicles 32)
b. Archaeological finds in Israel and Assyria
c. Assyrian written records
2. The biblical authors present and remember the event as parallel to the destruction of the Egyptian military at the Reed Sea.
Both events - the defeat of the Egyptian army at the Reed Sea, and the defeat of the Assyria army in Judeh - are evidence that Yahweh is the Supreme God and that He is with Israel/Judah.

Thanks for this. Another relatively unknown is that Isaiah 33 is predicting this event also. "Now I will arise, now I will be exalted, now I will be lifted up" (Isaiah 33:10) - meaning, "Now finally after 30 years of predicting it through Isaiah, I am going to deliver Judah from Assyria" (note the chapter begins as a woe to the destroyer/traitor, which is Sennacherib). And going with that, note that Jesus utilizes these words before going to the cross to defeat the devil, John 12:31-32, where the "lifting up" refers to the crucifixion. "Now judgment is upon this world, now the ruler of this world will be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth will draw all men to myself" (just as after the defeat of Sennacherib, nations surrounding Jerusalem heard about it and sent gifts). Jewish tradition at some point also said that the deliverance from Sennacherib took place at Passover, which is also the time setting of John 12.

Good to see you back making a video. If someone doesn't know the story of the Angel of the Lord at the 185,000 they need to read the Bible more. It's one the central stories of the Bible and how God fights for his people. If people don't know his word, He doesn't know them.

The picture of the young lady in Hezekiah's tunnel seems to indicate that there were natural fractures within the rock, so if I'm correct, how much of the length of this tunnel had to actually be carved out? Or did the workmen have to carve the natural fracture deeper than it existed in order for the water to flow downhill?

There is debate on just how tunnel was carved. Some think natural fissures or karstic hollows were followed. Others don't. Some think pounding from above ground guided the tunnelers. The inscription doesn't give those details. The serpentine path of the tunnel is also somewhat puzzling. You can find more information in the bibliography at the bottom of this page (and from "brother google"). www.bibleplaces.com/heztunnel/

Interesting video. If you want to know what really caused the destruction of Sennacharib's army, read 2 Kings 19:9/ Isaiah 37:9. Then read "The Rescue of Jerusalem: The Alliance between Hebrews and Africans in 701 B.C" where the author Henry Aubin explains it was the mentioned Kushite King Tirhakah who saves the day for the Jerusalemites. Recently, a panel of experts was asked to weigh in on the thesis, and they agreed with Aubin.

Thanks for the comment. I haven't read the book, but it looks like an interesting theory. Both the Bible and the Annals of Sennecharib (e.g. ANET p. 287) mention this attack from Egypt/Cush. Sennecharib says the Egyptian/Cushite attack was coordinated with Hezekiah, and he (Sennecharib) claims to have dealt successfully with it. That doesn't mean he was telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth, of course. The Bible doesn't specifically connect the "messenger/angel of YHVH" with Tirhakah king of Ethiopia/Cush, but I wouldn't rule out that he could be. Many times YHVH's messengers ("angels") are humans. In any case the biblical authors see the hand of YHVH behind the events taking place. It is of interest that the same dynamic occurred some 120 years later during the Babylonian attack on Jerusalem. Egypt came up to help Judah in hopes of keeping Babylon at bay. But this time it didn't matter (Jeremiah 37:6-11).

My understanding that Yahweh was commonly known among peoples of the Middle East and that he had a father and mother. Also, he had to compete with Baal for supremacy. Why isn't this discussed much? Why do we have to take Yahweh's word that he is supreme among gods?
@SatelliteBibleAtlas

We have not only YHVH's words, but His deeds as evidence that He is God alone. And, the persistent existence of His people. This kind of experience and evidence is summarized in places like, e.g., Psalm 135.

Well, he showed it when he wiped out the mighty Assyrians, the guys who said 'Your god can't deliver you any more than any of the the gods of the other nations I have conquered.' And it's also shown through predictive prophecies of the Bible, predicting things often centuries before they came to pass.
