Satisfactory FICSMAS Event Fresh Start in Update 5 (Part 1)

afaik, it is no glitch, but a QoL improvement (already sometime in update4?), that we no longer need to hold the mousebutton or the spacebar for crafting (or put some weight on it :-). for most people, a short tap on space should start this "autocrafting" until you tap or click the crafting button on the console again. but some people may need to quickly doubletap space, or click with the mouse once and then tap, or some slight variation of this.

Weight on it for me, LOL, but my 10 year old son actually found that clicking on it is what caused it to continue. That is the only reproduceable way that I found, but I will experiment with some of the other ways too! Thanks for the comment! :-)

Tapping space to autocraft was added in update 4. ImKibitz did a top 10 improvements video on update 4 and it was his #1 pick in it. The title is 10 Secret Features in Satisfactory Update 4.

just for info: although it was correct to say that the calendar has items to open four of the drop pods, which can't be opened at all when not participating in the event, there is one more drop pod (harddisk) anyway than are needed to get all alt recipes and other bonuses. including these four, there are five more than needed. thus you can get these special items and at first use them as rare decorations, or use them anytime later to also open these additional pods ... the choice is yours, and afaik should have no bad consequences (getting stuck) either way.

ps: besides those optional items for the pods, the calendar DOES have three other specific items that are absolutely needed to advance the mam research. when using these for other purposes or when losing/destroying them, you WILL get stuck with the research (unless you cheat with a savegame editor). i assume that the next parts of the series will give more details, but if you already NOW start opening calendar doors, be carefull ...

Absolutely true! There will be more notes for sure when I get to that later as this is the second time running through the event this year! ;-) First one was with my son in a multiplayer effort. :-)

So I'm finding out. Lol. I haven't manually crafted for so long, so with this fresh start, I'm relearning some early parts of the game. Being a patch notes junkie, I probably read about it in the patch notes ages ago, and forgot about it! Lol.
