Thanks so much for these files, I was getting ready to write you to find out if there was any way to get them. I’m doing the exact same gauge install! I have a 1971 240 Z with conversion to Jenvey ITBs and speedhut gauges. This is awesome!

You should sell the STL files for the gauge bezels, I don't have a 240z but I bet a lot of people would love them. If you don't want to sell them you could post them for free on thingiverse or a similar web site and you could still make some money from tips. That said the dash came out amazing!

Or just upload the STLs to shapeways.com or materialise.com and people can order them in a variety of colours/ materials.

I'd wrap that dash in a foam backed leather, would look killer with some stitching and would hide all the issues. The flocking process turned out pretty good too!

I gotta admit guys that I was a little sceptical about how the dash would turn out but you guys freaking killed it on that one as looks totally awesome. I’ve used that type of filler on motorcycle panels and it’s incredibly durable, I seriously doubt that it’ll ever reopen those cracks in your lifetime, like I sad awesome job guys 👌🏻

Next time you do a dashboard mix actual bondo with fiberglass resin and hardener. It basically makes a bullitproof putty. Perfect for dashboards.

I was expecting to see that large open crack bridged with some type of mechanical strap (riveted sheet metal, etc) before filling with foam and would expect that spot to split again first if it fails but hopefully not with all the work that went into it. Dash looks beautiful.

Hope you used ASA or ABS plastic. PLA melts in a hot car. I print car parts and my PLA phone holder melted in the summer. ABS is good for heat resistance but ASA is better if also exposed to UV light. Also, ABS and ASA melt in acetone, which means you can vapor smooth them and get a perfect finish easily.

I've looked at speed hut gauges before, but it wasn't til watching your last video that I realized they had custom gauge options that can be done with your own graphics, so I ordered a set for my 1980 SA22C RX-7 which will give me more than I ever wanted and now after seeing the result of the dash you restored I'm probably going to go that route too as the dash cap I had on melted in the Texas sun, so definitely not going that route again. Thanks for all the great and useful content

Polyvance has a great product for restoring dashes. Basically a flexible plastic weld, you v notch the cracks, plastic weld, then use there flexible bondo type product. sand down and they have a vinyl spray that's textured. I redid my RWB and 4 years later its still perfect. I leather wrapped my dash and window toppers. Your dash turned out amazing, great job.

I'd love to learn how to build a custom dash. My Nissan isn't that bad but I would love to know what it take to build a new dash. I'd like to use car parts like Jeep AC vents like the round ones in mine 2015, late model GM AC control, a nice build in screen for the radio and one of the 'touch screen' Holly instrument displays for rev's, speed, gas level, temps and so on. But not a race dash that doesn't match the flow of the car. Maybe I'm dreaming too much...

3D printed PLA or ABS is not suitable for use in the dashboards of cars. I printed a Pi 3.5" LCD pod for my dash out of PETG and it is liquid now. I also had a battery / circuit holder warp real bad inside a 50's megaphone that I restored, just from leaving the megaphone in the car on a summer day. My recommendation is to get your parts printed in a more exotic material from shapeways or another 3D printing service to have parts that won't warp from being in a hot car. Keep up the great work!
