SATOR AREPO TENET OPERA ROTAS The title of the movie brought this to mind. It’s called a Sator square and contains a Latin palindrome. The same 3 words are repeated both vertically and horizontally, forward and backwards. It has early Christian and Mithraic and “magic” origins. The earliest example being found in the ruins of Pompeii. In Latin sator means sower, planter, founder, progenitor (usually divine) originator, literally “seeder” 🙂👍

I wonder if the demon Sator is supposed to be sort of a Christianized look at the greco-roman Satyr. Early christian conversion efforts did a lot of that, taking old, capricious or even benevolent characters from previous pagan mythology and turning them into demons or guises of the devil. The horns, the goat motif, the dominion over the wood and wilds and the beasts therein. It all lines up really well with the name.
@CNNBlackmailSupport2 жыл бұрын
It's based on the guy's mom's dementia, so it's probably an unknown or unprompted reference. If she was 60s/70s for her crazy days, a Satyr and the whole hippy Mystic thing makes sense as a major influence.

I just noticed that every low budget film that involves supernatural creatures/occurrences always have the most confusing timelines on earth. I don't know if the directors sometimes just runs out of ideas to progress/tell the story further so they put a scene that confuses the timeline of the story. It may not be a significant thought but it's strange that a lot of them have the same idea of expanding the story through confusing flashbacks.

at the start, they say Sator "made a covenant of peace, and seeks out harmful beasts in the land" which i feel is why the brother and sister died, but adam was fine. It wasnt physical violence, but his sister shunned Adam and banished him to the woods which can be read as an act of agression, but also is harmful to Adams fragile mental health. The brother was also making digs at Adam with lines like " rather put a shotgun in mouth then be isolated here", belittling him and blaming him for not talking about Sator so he wasn't offered help. As Adam had a strong belief in Sator, these acts of agression against him could be where Sator protecting him from what are percieved as "harmful beasts". All the time hopping , different effects and storylines, its meant to have many interpretations based on what you read into it and how you see things, and things arent as cleancut and obvious as they appear from an outside perspective

To me it really does seem like some kind of hereditary mental illness. The fact that several family members all hear voices and they mention some kind of mental stuff in the movie, heavily implies it but hey I may be biased due to having psychosis and DID myself. Just some pretty relatable stuff that point in that direction ya know? 🤔
@kittymaximum28262 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, in our family we call the genetic predisposition to a specific combo of mental illnesses the "family curse" because it is puberty triggered and you can retrospectively time it to first period/when the voice begins to crack for the downward spiral to a "break" at 20ish. but a lot of them "run in the family." that specific combo is the curse because it's literally a "we'll know around age 18" waiting game in terms of warning signs for point of no return. that's when you can look back for the other signs starting at puberty onset. this movie seems pretty on point for a predisposition for mental illness triggered by circumstances. if you don't know which family members carry the ability to pass it on due to the trigger seeming random and it not getting to every descendant who has kids, it feels more like a real curse and less like a game of roulette that takes 15 years between trigger pull and the noticeable symptoms to know if you lost the game. kinda worried I'll need a buddy in case a real life watching hits too close because this breakdown makes it look really good and I tend to like this style of movie.

I'm quite worried that this sort of thing will come to the USA. There are four languages spoken in the movie, that might be a turn off for many people, but the captioning system is amazing. @@pyromaniac709 I heard it a long time ago so I don't remember the specifics but it's something along the lines of since he's a fallen angel he had the same physical (albiet supernatural) restrictions.
