Then you have never heard of Jacob Deraps. He's prob 30 by now, but has been nailing EVERY VH tune since he was about 18. No offense to Joe S. he's one of my biggest heroes, but they could have done some research, and actually had the guitar parts nailed to a T. Jacob Deraps has his own cover band (for years now), and they sound considerably better than the actual remnants of VH. Just look here on YT.

@FrankenstratAssassin5 ай бұрын
Satch always said, King Edward's stuff was simply.... well... King Edward. Then after really paying attention to his musical writing, Joe was blown away by the intricacies of Edward's music, which honestly, did not surprise him at all. He knew Edward Van Halen's legacy, new his stuff was first rate insanity, but was always more interested in creation of his own music rather than delving into others. After EVH, Mt. Rushmore #2 (Hendrix #1 even though I'm an Edward backer all the way, Hendrix was first game changer... as a result, well deserved) passed away, Satriani, who met Ed only a couple of times and share massive praise in return from Ed, he had no problem paying homage to the man. Joe, began learning more of Ed's work, got hooked, and stated (like so many guitar musicians) "his stuff is insane, but aggressively FUN to learn and plany." He also stated "One can still learn and play it and it will never be..... well....Edward." I believe that is an intellectually fair and honest statement from Satch. After all, how many musicians can learn Joe's music and techniques? All (guitar) musicians KNOW that as much as one tries to emulate the truly innovated, original sounding and just jaw-dropping music structure ever done with a rock and roll guitar, there are those that just make even EXPERTS like Satch, scratch their heads. King Edward was just a different animal. He didn't have to learn guitar.... the guitar had to learn EDWARD. Intended comment here, if there is anyone that can do a tribute tour for the rock and roll guitar GOD, Edward Van Halen............... Joe Satriani is the PERFECT guy to do it. Satch stated early when this tribute tour was in int's infancey, that he had some "hard work" to do. As it went on, Satch said (no differntly than even Steve Vai) 'Ed's stuff is crazy.... and a LOT of fun to play to learn." But Joe always was quite clear as being the guy to be the brunt of the Edward Van Halen replacement: "I'm not Eddie. I don't want to be Eddie. But I want to be a musician who can give the great Edward Van Halen justice. I can't be Edward, but I can only do my best to emulate him....... but not as Edward Van Halen..... but as remaining Joe Satriani. I can never be Edward. Who can." I'm paraphrasing here, but let's be honest. Satch is CLEARLY the perfect guy for his insurrmountable task. Thank you Joe. Your expertise as a player and TEACHER makes you the perfect sponge to figure out King Edward the best anyone can. I would LOVE to have a ticket on this Best Of All Worlds tour. Satch, is simply awesome in his own right. King Edward? May you shred in peace with the rest of the insane guitar players beyond the pearly gates. You are missed.
