Bob Uecker must have been promoting Mr. Belvedere. Look up Norm MacDonald and Artie Lange's stories about him... he's legit funny in real life!

Of course he was. Bob Uecker is a legend in all areas of life.

I may be alone, but I liked it. I don’t judge this by how the audience reacts, they generally don’t look for subtlety. The escalation factor with the cops not being aware works for me too.

I wonder why Bob Uecker never hosted again. They preferred to take a chance with Steven Seagal.

It's funny but the fact no one acknowledged this guy who loses things was a scammer made it kind of weird.
@BrianONEILL-qf2cs11 күн бұрын
Jim 'Kevin the cop' Belushi basically is too stupid to realize the guy is a scammer, but that's how it's explained to the audience.

Yes, let's all knowledge that this sketch is a loser. Its not funny. But there are some admirable qualities- almost no obvious cue-card readings; the cast was committed; Chris Guest The cool thing is seeing SNL preserve all of their content, even if if it isn't golden. We need this archived.

On the day I'm posting this, Uecker died a few days ago. Finding this clip is serving the purpose of remembering Bob, and Chris Guest. Jim Belushi can FOAD. Thanks for posting this incredibly unfunny scene, NBC/SNL.

How did this air, I kept waiting for the climax, it never came. I guess it was lost and difficult to describe.

Good lord those early-80s seasons were lame. The silence is incredible in this one. It didn't make any sense on any level. A police "lost and found" department? That's not a thing. Somebody lost a bundle of money in a cab and the cab company turned it over to the cops? Yeesh. Why not just set it in a cab company? It wasn't the cast, mostly. It was the writing. Watching talents like Uecker and Guest struggle through this was painful to watch. Thank god Lorne soon came back and saved the show.

Points for trying, but Bob performance in the SNL clips isn't at all funny, almost painful to watch. SNL generally does much better than this.
