If I remember right about this time in the 80s Rodney Dangerfield career had an upswing. He was doing movies left and right. Making guest appearances and this was from a short lived comedy show on I think it was hbo. Or maybe some other network. Not clear on what it was called.

Clark Babin I recall hearing that Rodney tried his hand at comedy for several years and couldn't quite break out. So he sold paint at Sherwin Williams for a while. But he missed comedy so his wife told him to try it one more time. Rodney changed his material to 'I get no respect' ; thank God that worked out. Can you imagine Caddyshack without this idiot?
