The only reason why the book thing blew up is because it came out at the height of the controversy over her “transphobic comments” saying that sex is real. Science is apparently transphobic aswell. The word women, I believe as of now, doesnt encompass trans men, hence the very reason why you have to use the word 'trans' in order to make the distinction and clear up confusion. Trans men are exactly that. If they can menstruate, it's because they were born female. Conversely, trans women cannot menstruate because they were born male. That's where I believe you downplay how complicated it actually can get. Furthermore, the notion of only BIOLOGICAL women having the physiological capacity to menstruate being considered transphobic is straight lunacy. Let's say in a world where that notion isnt backed by science, then Rowling should still be entitled to her opinion without punishment. She wasnt advocating for transgender genocide and doesnt deserve to be blasted as a social pariah because of her belief on the matter.
