My (special needs) son is a Janitor on the local AFB, he does his job with pride & professionalism - we are so proud of him since he understands every job is important. Having a education does not make one intelligent, that comes from empathy & gratitude for those who cannot achieve the higher standard of anothers career. Mathematician here. The equation on the board is a standard first example of Fourier (not for-nee-ay) coefficients. If the students are being shown this equation, then most of them should be able to complete this example on their own (certainly at MIT). It's a routine calculation requiring next to zero innovative thought if they know calculus, which the students would definitely know if they're being taught about Fourier coefficients.
