To be fair saying “Goodnight” is the same as saying “Good morning”. It’s just at a different time of day. The only confusion is because since it’s the last one you would say, people take it as meaning “goodbye”. But much like “Aloha”, it can mean either hello or goodbye.

It’s incredibly difficult to write sharp topical jokes that will be relevant and funny for a live broadcast on a Saturday night, week after week. Certain aspects of the show’s format - including the double musical performances - exist to help fill time.

What would be really brave is focusing on his health and see if he can completely recover before trying to serve millions of other people. Strokes and recovery are very tricky, and different for everyone. Often 3-6 months after a stroke you’ve reached max recovery as well.

He could've used his stroke as an excuse to NOT debate, instead, knowing that he's at a weakened state, he went up there and responded to every challenge. And to the critics, I don't get the critiques. He countered every point, avoided a couple of questions like any politician does (which sucks but it's par for the course), and remembered all of his canned lines. Not sure how any of that is bad.
