One of the all-time greatest SNL moments. The reactions by Myers, Madonna and Roseanne--priceless!

Yeah, because they had no idea she would show up. She was giving a show across the street at Radio City and wanted to give everyone a surprise since 30 Rock is just a short walk from where she was. Even the crowd went nuts. Amazing that they all were able to somewhat stay in character after that.

Way back in the 80's when Madonna was shooting to the top, many established stars and singers would diss her and her singing abilities. This was around the time Mick Jagger publicly said she had a voice like Minnie Mouse on helium. Madonna said in an interview she'd met Barbra Streisand and she had been really nice to her, and just said, "go for it kid". At that time she was possibly the only major talent to be supportive of her....

@@missweatherorweathernot7870 WRONG ! Madonna was 100% PERFECT and she absolutely NAILED that drop dead funny parody, which was an instant classic !!! It was MEANT to be that far over the top. She wasn't playing Mike Myers character, she was playing another, very well known stereotype that really is that outrageous. Comedy is about reality , exaggerated to make it funny. If the reality is hilarious to begin with, then the parody has to be that much more exaggerated to show the absurdity. Your comment is just as inane as your dumb reply that "Snowbirds are canadians". Duh. Maybe buy a sense of humor. You can pick one up dirt cheap from any street vendor in NYC, because most people already have one, and those who don't, are too unfunny to know it. Stay the hell out of comedy clubs in NYC and LA, or they'll eat you alive. Next to Evita, this was probably Madonna’s best performance as an actress and LIVE no less, so in character, relaxed, natural, and really funny!
@oldhollywoodfan8009 Жыл бұрын
I liked her performance in Evita but not that one speaking part. It felt so unnatural. The only time I ever found Madonna to be natural at acting was in Who’s That Girl. Now, the character was way over the top but she was supposed to be. Think of her as a Harley Quinn prototype. Madonna should have worked with that director more often because he was able to get her to be an actress.

Surprisingly, the three of them had chemistry and were funny together. Madonna should have tried comedic roles and she probably would have had success in acting.
@DaveTexas Жыл бұрын
She did try comedy - did you see Who’s That Girl? It was awful. Desperately Seeking Susan had launched her acting career quite successfully, but then Shanghai Surprise and Who’s That Girl came along and nearly derailed her acting career. It wasn’t that she was a bad comedic actor, but rather that the movies were just terrible. That’s probably why she went for more dramatic roles after that.
