I totally forgot Dana Carvey actually knows how to play drums. I believe the other reason why they're looking at Dana is because they're looking for his que to finish the song, notice that the bass player is also watching Dana. When my band and I are jamming we and the drummer is playing out in the end, we always watch the drummer for that last hit.

Came here from listening to Mike Meyers on Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, and apparently Mike cried after this sketch because he thought it hadn't gone well, and I think you can see it in his face during the performance - he can't even look at Steven Tyler while they're singing together because he's worrying so much that he's ruining the show, even though the crowd was loving it. It's always both scary and reassuring to be reminded that even the stars have impostor syndrome. Also, I love this Tom Hanks character.

I'm 52 years old, when this came out in 1990, I was 21 years old. Imagine how FUN it was to watch SNL for us. No social media. No watch-on-demand. It came on at 11, and you were there along with every other kid watching this in real time. No propaganda, no "message", just fun, funny, rocking fun. I feel so blessed to have come of age when I did, and I likewise feel bad that my kids aren't getting anywhere near the same experience (especially with SNL, which is not the same show it was).

@@Ijbeotch1 it was a satire on political messaging, the humor being that a burned out band and stoned kids would speak so articulately about complex global issues, following questions about booze, drugs, and Steven Tyler’s lips. Wayen's world as a sketch on SNL is the best and I think it should come back even though it did for the 40th anniversary, but I think at least for the fans it should come back permanently. And this has to be my favorite one that I've seen so far because Aerosmith got to be on the show. I love those guys. Wayen's world party time excellent!! Party on Wayen party on Garth.
