So glad I had a jpn Saturn back in the day over PlayStation, I got to play all these games in all thier arcade perfect glory, while PlayStation fans laughed at us Saturn owners they were the ones playing very inferior ports of these games....Well when the games finished loading of course 😁

I never had a Saturn back then, my family had an N64 so now as an adult I"m going back and collecting all of the games I never got to play as a kid. Got a SNES and Saturn now haha.

I remember reading about this in the Sega Saturn Magazine in the UK. It is weird from a 2021 perspective that the Street Fighter characters were far more familiar to me than the Marvel ones, with the exception of Spiderman.

It sucks that this game along with X-Men Vs. Street Fighter for Sega Saturn never officially released the US version due to commercial failure of the console. The PS1 version removes tag team due to RAM limitations which I used to play and it's no fun without it. I still have the PS1 version of Marvel Vs. Capcom but I finally got the Dreamcast version which is 100% arcade accurate but the BGM had a different style compared to the arcade and PS1 versions

No, the game, like Vampire Savior, X-Men Vs Street Fighter, and SF Zero 3 will not run without the RAM cart. The machine will give you a message in Japanese to use the RAM cart, and that it is required.

If I remember correctly, you can't run the game without the cartridge. Also, it runs slower with the 4MB cartridge compared to the 1MB which I never had.

In the Playstation versión , you can't change the character un the middle of the fight. The other fighter is like a striker.

Thank the 4MB expansion pack as it help ran many of Capcom fighting games as arcade perfect 👍 which explains why their games on PS1 struggled

That’s not the only reason though. Even without it the ports tended to be better since the system actually had raster based tile rendering like the older arcades and consoles before it. It was a significant advantage when it came to bringing home those Neo Geo and CPS2 arcade games. And with the RAM cart, it got to be near perfect outside of the lower resolution and a couple of small changes.

Honestly I think tag team are a nice addition because you can actually make new strategies and build up unique combos. But Marvel fighting games are kind of sketchy. I prefer Skullgirls 👌
