There is no one to compare Angelina Jordan to. She is easily the most accomplished child vocalist of all time and just keeps improving. As talented as Angelina is, she is an even better human being, humble almost to a fault and filled with empathy. Angelina, IMO, was given the gift of song to draw attention to her message of love and peace. When she won Norway's Got Talent, Angelina was asked what she would do with the prize money (about $80,000). Angelina responded, "I want to give it to the poor children" and indeed most of it was donated. I have become a superfan because Angelina's music and who she is has improved the quality of my life. I spend a lot of time trying to learn how I can best support her and introduce her to new people. We Angelina angels continue to be patient and put our faith in her family to know when it is best for them to allow Republic Records to fully promote her. I along with many other angels, have embarked on a campaign to improve the music reaction world on KZbin, suggesting reactors go well beyond just reacting to an artist and find ways to fully support them and boost their analytics. We suggest, always providing a link to the original video and to the artists KZbin channel. At 16 she's already thoroughly accustomed to microphones, cameras, stages, bands, orchestras, studios and production at the level of seasoned veterans of music. It's impossible to imagine the years ahead. She has everything she needs with fabulous family and industry support. I really hope she also stays safe and well protected against any harm whatsoever. No car, or plane crashes or any drugs or assailants getting near her. I presume the family is savvy enough to realize the responsibility for this treasure.

Watched her sing this in Norway on the 10th July. She was so happy to be back on stage she had tears running down her face. She sang 18 songs! Also watched her doing a 30 minute sound check before the show - working with the band - even this was amazing.

That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Angelina is an artist extraordinaire . It is what allows her to own the songs she sings. She is the creator of her pieces and at the same time she honours the original artist. And then she is so humble and appreciative of her audiences. And add to that she is a genius. A lot of her covers and her original compositions will be viewed as classic versions (What a difference a day makes at age 8, I put a spell on you at age 9, I'm still holding out for you at age 10 and I'm a fool to want you at age 7 and again at age 10, I think). This version of Elvis' Suspicious Minds I consider a classic already. Ever more astonishing is Angelina.

Great reaction! No you are not alone. Angelina communicates the song on deeper level than anyone I've ever listened to, almost soul to soul. If you would like to be amazed again, I would recommend one of her originals called "Million Miles". There are a couple of studio versions, but she also performed it live at her recent concert in Norway and let me tell you it is incredible. It is a very emotional song, and very meaningful to her. Written after the death of her Maternal grandfather. She lets out a belt near the end of the live show that reportedly tumbled buildings and overturned cars for blocks around. One of the better fan recorded uploads is from Mattias Axelsson , you can find all the songs from the concert on his channel. You do not want to miss this one!

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

Great comments sir. The word I use more and more is that Angelina is intense (not in volume or pitch or even in terms of power but in some undefinable emotional connection). The two younger girls are Angelina's cousins and the older one is her sister. Her grandma Mery is the executive producer and Angelina..well, she don't play! She hits what she aims at. I think her approach better portrayed the angst, doubt, hopefulness, and fatigue of the story better than either Elvis or Mark James. Their versions were faster and more upbeat (maybe they were more constrained by the beat-driven approach prevalent in the times). But the story is not an upbeat one, a relationship that could make it but that probably won't due to distrust.

This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. The beginning credits state that Mery Zamani is the executive producer. Mery happens to be Angelina’s grandmother. The two youngest girls are Angelina’s uncle Michael’s children. Uncle Michael is also Angelina’s manager. The older child is Angelina’s younger sister, Juliette. Pianist, Rob Christie is a two time Grammy award winner. Rob is also the Creative Director in LA for Republic Records. Angelina signed with Republic Records in November of 2020. Rob has accompanied Angelia in most of her Republic Records videos of her covers and original songs.

The song was written by Mark James. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, he is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along). Saucey , this wasn't a cover , it was a tribute to The King of Rock & Roll From The Barefoot Princess - The Queen of Jazz , MS. ANGELINA JORDAN . From the leather jumpsuit , the red Fender Telecaster Guitar and Priscilla's hairstyle it took us back to Elvis's comeback tour. Talk about a team - Rob Christie one of the powers that be at Republic Records where AJ is signed and a Grammy winning pianist himself was on piano in the red jumpsuit that Elvis's band wore on the comeback tour. The video was executively produced by her Grandma Mery Zamani. I believe the young children were shown to show Angelina's growth through the years. The two younger children were her cousins Aurora and Athena ( her Uncle Mike's kids ) and the older one was her sister Juliette . As usual AJ did the arrangement herself. This is one very talented young lady !!

Someone please tell me who she reminds me of, I am 54 if that helps. The sultry, light jazzy, rich sound of her voice, that she has had since she was a small child. I can’t help but feel like a reincarnated voice was placed into a precious barefoot little girl and she has just run with it! Has she ever sung The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, I can hear her voice singing that perfectly ❤️. Elvis Presley and his producer Felton Jarvis cleverly covered this *Mark James song from 1968 in 1969* , Elvis' last #1 hit in the US and #7 of his most successful songs. Felton Jarvis took the original arrangement completely and pushed the song with more speed and additional instruments (wind instruments, violin etc.) and a spectacular backing choir (in the studio version) and of course with Elvis Presley's voice. Pianist Rob Christie changed the musical arrangement and Angelina the vocal arrangement, but she didn't change the lyrics. Angelina changes the lyric structure, starting with the bridge and giving the song a different meaning. Once again many people don't hear and understand the song until when Angelina tells the story. 💯 *AJ* 💯👣

Sauced Dad, thanks for the great reaction. No, for certain, you are not the only one who reacts to her the way you do. It is mystifying how she draws you into her world each time she sings. Often I feel sad, overwhelmed, optimistic, happy tears, and emotionally drained all within the same song she sings. No song emphasizes this than when she sings her original song “Million Mikes”. Having said this, actually almost any time she sings I feel the same way. You should also see her TicToc version of “Love is a Game” (Adele original).

I am with you. You really made me laugh when you said, "Elvis who? Elvis who?" You are really over the top, man. And yet I can't disagree with you. You are not alone. I have watched this several times now and relish how well she and her accompanist transition so seamlessly form 6/8 to 4/4 and back to 6/8. And you can hardly notice it and yet it impacts the presentation significantly. Makes real artistry look easy.
