The new Endorphin series from Saucony is damn exciting and I've been enjoying both the Endorphin Speed & Endorphin Pro. Both of these shoes feature a midsole plate, one made of Nylon and one made of Carbon Fiber. After a lot of miles, I found myself loving the Endorphin Speed for its ability to adapt to a variety of situations, runs and speeds - plus, it saves ya $40! What are YOUR thoughts?

@@giovanbattistafichera8439 2 completely different shoes... the speed has lots of cushion/protection for your feet with little ground feel, the Liberate is incredibly light but lacks protection. It is more of a old-school racing flat with lots of ground feel. Is it fast? Yes! But 10K is for me the absolute upper limit for my feet, where the endorphin keeps my feet fresh through a marathon. (P.a. I own both)

@@jeroen1989 Thanks! I unfortunately don't own the Speed, so I raced my last half with a pair of regular Kinvara 11 (sigh) because I also thought that the Liberate didn't have enough cushioning for that distance. I still set a new PB though, so I'm happy 😊

I am about to turn 69, and have been running and race walking for over 55 years, this is my first public comment on running shoes. I recently got the Saucony Endorphin Pro and was very impressed, I took off 2 plus minutes on my first run in them (5 Miles) without trying, was totally impressed, comfort, stability great and the Carbon Plate propels you forward. An excellent pair of running shoes. I got them for $130, early December 2021. Your review on the Pro and speed was informative. I will be looking into purchasing the Speed soon.

Found a pair of these at a Dicks Sporting Goods Outlet for only $67, i assume they were maybe pre owned or something, but they seem new. Picked them up on a whim as I am looking to get into jogging/running and it looks like I picked up the Speed at a solid price. As someone new to this all I can say is they are super comfortable and I am expecting them to last a while given the reviews I've seen with hundreds of miles.

Absolutely obsessed with my endorphin speed's! I bought these on a whim when I went into my local running store to pick up some NB TC's as an upgrade from my go-to Fuel cell rebels and could not be more stoked by the plot twist. I had never tried Saucony's prior to these because I always believed them to be heavy and frankly...not very "cool" in style. I definitely agree the design is "meh" but the colours are fun. But much like you, that is my only negative. Saucony has definitely gained a new customer in me with this lineup!

Got my Endorphin Speed on friday and took them out for a 5 k tempo run on saturday. I really enjoyed them. Didnt have any problems with stability. Very lightweight and comfortable. I went a half size up to get enough room in the toe box.

I bought the Speeds - my first pair of more race-oriented shoes, as opposed to my usual more cushioned daily trainers (most recent the very good New Balance 880v10s). I do notice their springiness yet they’re pretty comfortable still, and I also felt they could stand to be a touch wider for added stability like I’m more used to. But not a deal breaker. Enjoying them thus far. I don’t profess to be a fast runner (or even fast jogger) but it’s nice to put these into the rotation for my tempo days (and help me actually differentiate a tempo run from usual plodding along long run pace!).

Thank you for a great and helpful review! Would you recommend the SPEED also for racing 10k's and 1/2 marathon's for a runner that is approx. 195 lb. and aiming towards 37mins/1.24mins respectively? Or will they lack a little bit of...well, speed? Are there other alternatives that will do just as good for interval-sessions and racing? Keep up the good work!

Appreciated the review. I think I saw the experience quite differently. For me the Pro vs Speed is a hard comparison, because the intended primary use case is different (racing vs training). I opted for the Pro over the speed as a possible marathon race shoe. I may try out the Speed later on, but it would be highly unlikely that I would race in the Speed.

Thanks for this comparison. I've only used the Endorphin Pro, but I really like it as a "racer" shoe. The plate doesn't throw you forward, so you're not going to find yourself accidentally running faster than you'd planned. This might just be me, but I don't really feel it unless I'm running below 7min pace. I think it *could be nice for long runs, but for that price unless you're balling, I'm not sure what the point would be.

Don't get the narrow thing - narrow=Hoka Speedgoat, all Adidas shoes, most Salomon shoes...these fit perfectly.

You are confusing toe box with the platform of the shoe. The Speedgoat has a narrow toe box, but it does not have a narrow platform. It is a really stable shoe. The Speed has a narrow platform and it is not as stable as the Speedgoat. That said I only notice this when changing directions. I say this as someone who loves both shoes.

I haven't tried these but I have yet to find a Saucony shoe that is narrow enough in the midfoot. Adidas, Salomon etc. Are fine. Also NB.

Great comparison. I want to like my Speed's more than I do. I've been experiencing some pronation issues, oddly only in my right though? They feel good but that has definitely caused some discomfort/pain.

Loving the Endorphin Speed! Needed a firm, low volume, not too bulbous in the forefoot shoe to replace my cloudflows. Finding these to be a good replacement. Only thing I noticed is that they require more quad input on steeper climbs than my other shoes...The fit is very similar to the new Hoka Torrent 2...

I tried the Pro first, I asked to try the Speed but there were some wires crossed. I immediately loved the feel of them. But changed them later that day when I realised I'd bought the Pros... because I went in there to buy the Speed and felt like they were more appropriate for me. I ran 4k in the Speeds the next day and although I enjoyed them, I found myself not enjoying the responsiveness as much as I did with the Pros... so I've swapped back. The one thing that REALLY impressed me with these shoes is the heel retention. It's the best I've come across on any running shoe I've owned so far. Time will tell for me with the Pros, but I bought them to have some fun in occasionally at park run and to use in any 5 to 10k road races I might do. I'm mainly a trail runner :-).

Dude thank you for the review the only reason I got the endorphin speed was because it was on sale. I got them for 74$. Immediately the shock absorption was amazing which is what I wanted to prevent injuries. But I got really weak ankles and man was I afraid of rolling my ankles with this shoe. What do you think about the adidas solarboost. Also I love how honest your review was, thank you!

TGR, I’m a fan, and I respect your opinion. But I would not be so quick to write off the Pro against the Speed. Sure, the Pro is not a shoe for racking up the easy miles, but it isn’t meant to be. It should be set aside for race day, or at least (in the Current Circumstances™️) for solo PB-hunting days! I have some Pros, and love them. They are so fun to run in, and the minimal upper accommodates my wide triangular duck-feet better than some dedicated wide-fitting shoes. Also the soles’ stiffness seems to help protect my long second toes, which can take a pounding when I’m running fast. I absolutely agree about the stability issues though. The stack height is high enough to induce ankle wobbles if you’re not careful on corners.

I run a few time in the Shift. They feel fine, good role over, very padded but still bouncy. Good slow, easy effort shoe. Main complaint is that they are hideous. The have the same backs color as the others but the extra stack height and plastic bit make them look like orthotic hospital shoes but “colored for kids”. On the plus side they are bright so maybe that will help with visibility at night.

Bought the pro on an early release. Love them, but probably would have gotten the speed were it available. I also got the shift when it released for daily training/recovery. Using the pro for all my virtual racing.

I purchased a pair of the Endorphin Speed last month and have done around 60km in them so far. They are very comfortable and responsive, and are plenty fast enough for an old runner like me. I went up a half size, because these were literally the only size available (other than one that was far too small). The extra length is not a real problem, but the extra width is good. Overall, I like them a lot and intend to race HMs and longer in them. I am running in the IAU 6H Virtual Global Solidarity Run this weekend and will use them for the first 50k, and then switch to my Pegasus 37s for the last part. I'm hoping to break 4:30 for the 50k, which would be almost 1:15 pb for me. I've not run in the Pro, so I can't compare, but the Speed is much easier to run in than the Nike Zoom Fly 3, with a carbon plate. I think I would buy the Speed again, but I'll know more after Saturday.

As with just about everyone else... I love my endorphin speeds. I never bought a supershoe like a next% or endorphin pro, so no comparison from me there, but the Speed is my racer of choice and trumps every other brand at equal or lesser price from Hoka, Adidas, Nike, Altra, and Skechers in anything beyond a 10k. Even then, my sprint triathlon 5k PR (20'30ish") was wearing the endorphin speed and after one of my hardest-effort bike splits. A truly amazing do-it-all shoe and with no doubt the best of all the non-supershoes!

I put over 100km. on the Pro. I feel that the upper and the shoelace expand after a few kilometers. No matter how tight I tie the shoelace, I always feel the shoes get bigger.

Got all three. Shift is just my casual shoe. Speed in my opinion are a better. Pro's are still good, but I'm 60kg and I think they may have been a little too stiff for my weight up until about 150km . Also.. I soaked both pairs in some cleaning powder overnight and washed them in the washing machine. YES!!!!!!! People thought I was mad. Can say they are still 100% ok and nothing wrong with them and still run like brand new second hand

If you are going to say the shoes are basically the same, the endless “durability” question of the Pro is a bit unfounded. I run in the speed and Clifton line from Hoka....both get it done but do it differently. Hoka let’s you grow into good running form is you are paying attention, or will just accept poor form. The Speed is a runners shoe who knows what they are doing. And the Speed and Pro are best embraced by faster runners who benefit from the spring of a forefoot strike. Got a little nitpicky on the Pro/Speed....especially about price when the Pro is still less than other Carbon options. But, for the average runner, the Speed is enough. But if you want to feel a professional racing shoe, same some money and buy the Pro as opposed to the other popular Carbon options. Again, thanks for the comparison, but if you are going to compare wear and tear, run the same miles.

That Pwrrun pb is closer to Nike Zoom X or Floatride since they're Peba based. It's Pwrrun+ ( Triumph, Freedom, Xodus ) that's more akin to Boost or Floatride Energy since they're Tpu based

I have the Speed. Great shoe, it feels good fast and it can still go well running slow. My current daily trainer and also on fast days (alternate with VF4 and Adizero Sub2) The midsole is Pebax, only the Endorphin line is using pebax. Thanks for great review as always.

My first run with the Endorphin speed is fun and I felt I'm fast but it seems that I'm not comfortable with it coz it's unstable with my heel strike and I think it will force my feet to be pronate while running maybe because the heel out sole of the speed is quietly bit narrower designed than any usual shoes like hoka. I think it's good for toe striker or maybe I'm not used to it?
