I could definitely go for more from this tournament and some #Rubinstein games. Particularly his win vs Lasker and his only loss vs Fyodor Duz-Khotimirsky. Thanks for excellent analysis and sharing such a historically profound tournament!
@amosdraak35362 жыл бұрын
Still fingers crossed. I just asked today if he can maybe cover all of Rubinstein’s wins. I think he and Lasker ties for first, so maybe all of their wins together could be cool. Lasker’s only other loss was to FDK, which is interesting, as he managed wins against the top players

Note that after White's 14th move, initiating the sacrifices, all of Black's Queen-side pieces are still on their home squares. Never mind Lasker, what would Morphy say? The Queen finally moves on Black's 19th move, the Bishop on his 22nd move, the Knight on his 24th move, and finally the Rook on his 28th move. (Note correct use of the Oxford Comma :)

@SarveshParakh2 жыл бұрын
this is why king's gambit is my fav opening. When it works, it is magical. Everything is hanging but most of the pieces cannot be captured and the ones that are captured lead to positions where white is just harassing the opponent before going for the kill. It will not work most of the times but when it does, it's pure magic

Let's try to copy our master : after 19 ...gxh6, Qg6+ Kh8, Ne5 a nice idea for black would be to try to give up material with Be6 to activate the rook on a8, but unfortunately for black it doesn't work : after Qxe6 white is threatening Nf7+ with a fork on the king and the queen so black has to react to this, but he has to keep an eye on his king . Black can't play Qd7 or Qg5 because of the many forks, and if he tries Qb6 to try and trade the queens, then white has Qf7 and there's nothing black can do against Ng6, he has to give up the queen. Congratulations on being an excellent teacher, #Adgamator. :)

@1:10 why not just take the pawn with Ke5? I see a free pawn so i take a free pawn. Most likely there is more but i'm not a skilled chess player so I cannot see why it is bad.
@pomstarSF6 жыл бұрын
Looks tempting but after analysing I realised the pieces were not developed enough. If Knight takes on e5, Queen will go to H4 with check. If Pawn blocks the Queen takes the pawn on e4 with check, and if Queen or bishop block the Queen takes the rook on H1. It would be very unfortunate.
