This has always been my thoughts on Saulot and where they should have taken clan Salubri: In the grand chessboard of the eternal Jihad, Saulot, the revered prophet and master of Valeren, orchestrates a masterful and ruthless gambit. Believing in the strategic power of sacrifice, Saulot deliberately allows himself to be diablerized by Tremere. This act is not one of defeat but a calculated move to infuse himself with Thaumaturgy, thereby gaining a crucial advantage in the supernatural war. Subsequently, under Saulot's subtle influence, Clan Tremere, now armed with this potent knowledge, embarks on a dark crusade against Clan Salubri. One by one, they hunt down and devour the members of Saulot’s original clan, seemingly leading to their extinction. However, the true depth of Saulot's plan unfolds as he uses the combined might of Valeren and Thaumaturgy to resurrect his old clan. The Salubri are reborn within the bodies of the Tremere members, creating a powerful hybrid lineage that could potentially dominate the vampire society. This strategic maneuver positions Saulot's reborn Salubri not just as survivors but as pivotal players in the ongoing Jihad, reshaping the power dynamics among the vampire clans.

He took over Tremere, threw Tremeres soul out of his body, which ended up in Goratrix's body. Goratrix soul was imprisoned in a mirror.

Iirc Tremere's (now Saulot's) body is some weird big worm thing? So he still has access to disciplines and scheming but not a good body to use it in

I see Saulot as a person who did evil things (like stealing the Golden Path and possibly creating the Baali) to prevend far worse things from happening. He saw the one path leading to the best possible future and does what he has to do to make that future happen, no matter the cost.

I always found it interesting that Saulot created the closest thing to a "good" clan (Salubri) and supposedly created arguably the most evil of the clans (Baali).

@@glueboy I mean Vulkan did do some pretty nasty things, not counting the scenario with the crispy child since there's context needed for that event, Vulkan was a general for a fascist empire who brutally conquered worlds with armies that predominately used fire to burn everything in their way and committed several genocides against alien species. Vulkan may be the nice, good guy for 40K, but in real life he'd be one of the worst war criminals in history. Similar to how for humans Soulot is an absolute monster while for vampires he's Buddha-Jesus.

Saulot created one of the branches of the Baali, something all of said branches will proudly declare if you care to ask them. He is definitely not a great guy, even ignoring how he abandoned his clan to the depredations of the other clans when he definitely could have done something about it. Dude is sketchy as hell, he was definitely hiding a lot of his darker sides.

So fun bit to add on the Tremere thing, if membory serves me right. How I remember it going down is that when Saulot won, Tremere himself managed to basically hop over into Goratrix, who at the time was the founder of the Tremere antitribu in the Sabbat. And it is Tremere in Goratrix's body who went and slaughtered the bloodline out of existance, and apparently put Goratrix's soul in a mirror or something. It was basically part of a bit of bloodline purging that happened in Revised, and moving some of the plt on taht stuff forward.

Going with the curse from God concept, I’ve always ruled that reaching Golconda means turning back to human. Curse lifted thus you die. Because you’re already dead, the curse is what was keeping you animated and staving off death. Ie end of PC

A fun way to run Golconda. I could see some characters using that for some cool character concepts. Either the persuit of enlightenment only to find it means death, or persuit knowing the true end goal. Lots of opportunities there.

Loved the video and really love your presentation on explaining the lore. Definitely one of the more refreshing takes on lore. Been larping VTM for 20 years and firmly believe Saulot is legit the evilest of the Antediluvians 😁 after all he stole enlightenment from the Kuie-Jin, created the Baali and in my head canon let Tremere eat him so he could take over Tremere’s body (V20 edition), from the rip, so he could move onto his next experiment (implying all his other tinkering with Clan Salubri was experimentation). Also funny how he got diablerised, took over Tremere’s body but is also trapped in the Hunedoara Castle of the Inconnu inner circle.

Saulot is not a nice guy. Saulot is playing the long game with Tremere both Clan and person. Most of Antideluvians are shades of bad and smart ones are more covert Light shade of evil I would have to say is the original Brujah and not Triole. Ennoia was into the stuff from the Wyrm and it's labyrinth. The only good thing she did was keeping powerful Wyrm spirits from this world through Endiku. It's a good result but we didn't get her exact motivations for why she into evil nature spirits. The thing is with ancient Vampires and from Methsulahs and up humans can no longer provide sustainence to them. Thirst of Ancients and the younger vampires are just cattle to the older vampires. Portia from Clan Toreador better known as Helen of Troy deliaberizes younger Vampires.
