This was pretty helpful watching your process. I want to get more familiar with pixel art as its kinda outside my medium. I liked watching your work evolve. I was not a major fan of the light blue outlight - because since youre over snow, I felt like it blended a little too easy for an outline - but im probably alone in that thought as its a common thing for pixel art to use both well contrasting colors and colors that blend easily. Overall, really impressed watching this. :)

Honestly i didn't knew about color mode on aseprite. That's something new for me. If you think on the whole enviroment i think about all the city. Man i get crazy because i can't plan all in a single day... and i want to build all but them i come to think if its the good choice like normal planed vision (up,down,left,right) or isometric or swap for 3d with 2d planes that will be all the stuff. I can't decide for sure yet... still thinking...

There are youtubers that add so much water to the vid that I have to skip parts and watch at x1.5 or x2.0 speed. But in your case I sometimes have to pause to process things. I like your approach much more.
@saultoons2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jerry, I definitely prefer to be more concise with information too. Unfortunately for me, it's not such a great approach for KZbin videos because there seems to be a preference with KZbin's algorithm for video length, watch time, and upload frequency. These videos have a long production time in terms of writing, too. I'm learning more every video I release, but one thing for sure is that pacing is incredibly important, it's something I'll always try to improve on and understand more, so I appreciate your comments :)
@jerrygreenest2 жыл бұрын
@@saultoons I think it's a fate of all great content-makers: great content doesn't always take the attention it deserves. We've all seen channels with just some cats or something, yet so much views and subscribers. In cinema industry, too, some movies for older audience is commonly less profitable for example, so movie producers prefer to make more childish-friendly movies like Marvel, «for all the family». One thing you have other may not have though, is a very loyal audience, so for example if/when you release some game, this will give you a good boost in promoting your game (guaranteed sells, best possible initial ratings etc)... All this may lead to skyrocketing, which wouldn't have led there if you had the same game but didn't have your loyal audience. I guess. On the other hand... Game-making... Try complete a good polished game, lol. Even more hard stuff.

"I made sure the palette was shared between assets" How do I actually do this, in aseprite? Would I have to re-draw colours, on each asset or can I just create the palette and simply "apply" it to the whole spitesheet?
@saultoons3 жыл бұрын
There are multiple ways to do this… 1) Do it manually per asset 2) Use index colour mode when you first set up your file in Aseprite and change the correct index colour 3) Apply to the final spritesheet afterwards, like you said
