My father had one of these. It was my job to clean it when he had been out hunting. He died before I could hunt so the rifle was lost.

Curious if your 99 has the Bishop branded butt pad? I have a 99 mfg in 1952 and mine does. Not sure if that came with it or was added after market.

Excuse a question, does the 308 go into the chamber of a 300 savage? I have a 99 rifle in 300savage but I don't know if the 308 cartridge works with that rifle.

308 Winchester and 300savage are not interchangeable in any way sorry

No, it will not function. But the .300 Savage is very similar. You can buy a cheap Lee Loader and hunt anything in North America with your 300 Savage.
