Looks like I'll need to work on my grip strength and swing technique! Great job guys!

:-) Never a bad idea, working on grip strength. So many obstacles depend on it.

Would you recommend doing this as your first race, or should I do a different one? This ones' obstacles looked pretty easy.

I would've pet those cows

Ha! Yes! Some people actually did just that. They were right there at the wire early in the race.

How deep are the waters?

OCR Kings I really want to do this race, but not a great swimmer... or let me rephrase that, I don’t swim lol but thanks for the info!

You had to wear a life vest - which I think is a great idea. Wasn't always the case. and they checked it to make sure the vest was properly setup before you enter the water. But it is deep. Could only touch the ground about 6' from shore.

Which brand of race do you recommend for beginners
@OCRKings6 жыл бұрын
A great beginner race is Warrior Dash and/or Rugged Maniac. They are both fun brands, 5k max, no penalties for missed or failed obstacles, and they are untimed. Both of those are great for beginners.

Good job guys! Seems like this race has more water/mud obstacles than spartan races. Would love to hear your thoughts on how they compare. thanks again!

I just did the rugged maniac Atlanta last weekend (super easy but fun) and signed up for Savage at the end of Sept. in Dallas Ga for more of a challenge with the increased distance and elevation change. Any tips on the last obstacle? I have heard horror stories, but you made it look super easy. (I thought the ringer obstacle at RM was very easy)

Gbfolger26 That's a weird one. It's totally against our "hand to hand" technique. I did the swing through with straight arms and just focused on using momentum to carry me. Move fast, and don't hang around on any of those things.
@26gregf7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I have one surgically fused wrist with zero movement. I retain my grip strength when I stay underneath it like in a pull up or using the hand to hand method. I notice I lose a lot of strength when my weight is in front/back or side/side. My plan is to grab the handle with the weak hand and ropes with the stronger hand since I assume that is the harder one to grip? I just found the channel and really enjoy the content!
@OCRKings7 жыл бұрын
Gbfolger26 Thanks! And yes, the ropes are way harder. Best to grab them as high as possible. The handles are easy to grasp in comparison. I have to say, this was my least favorite obstacle of the whole race...
