Can't wait to see Adam's excitement. I think of this project every time I see Adam's workbench wobble.

of course the intention was to cut into the face vise, saves a lot of manual work trying to even up those edges, and with the edge of the face vice the same as the end of the bench, it just looks FANTASTIC.

The whole bench is amazing but I really love those vices.

Hi Andy, Beautiful work of art. If your delivering the bench to CA, stop by the high school woodshop and mill. We are 5 minutes off of 80 on the way.

Glue stick for the cork rubber seems less messy. I’ll have to try that when my cork rubber arrives. I’ll let you know how it holds to Florida heat and humidity. The bench is looking so “Savage”!

I watched the rest of this series yesterday after finding it from the Matt Cremona slab video and was wondering when you would be delivering it to Adam. Guess we'll find out soon! PS I'd love an end vise, the look amazing... But i need a proper bench first! Keep it up. Love your ingenuity.

I hope some how you get a tour of the cave out of this despite the pandemic going on. I'd love to go hang out in his shop and just be overwhelmed by it all. I will have to be satisfied their VR experience (which is pretty cool really) to see it.

Adam is a worthy recipient of this masterpiece! Someday I'll save up enough money for one of your vises, but the bench dogs will come sooner.

I dunno... Not sure it was intentional. I lean no, as it made the vise sides asymmetric, which I note was fixed later. But I could be wrong.

Good move, of course, but wondering just exactly how the wedge was inserted at :50, if you please.
@ErikBabel2 жыл бұрын
Took me a while, but I think what happened is he cut the video. In between video cuts I'm guessing he turns off the saw, hammers in a wedge, backs up the piece a little, and then turns the saw back on and continues.

Great job Andy! ... and whether you intended to cut the edge of the vice to ensure it is perfectly square to the bench top or not is for you to decide. It certainly looks great from my seat. Regards, R

There is no way you intentionally cut that much off the end of your vice jaw.
@softbreeze9413 жыл бұрын
yeah exactly! He should not have cut into the vice jaw so he would have 2 massssive surfaces to sand into same dimension as the jaw!
@spencertaberski56684 жыл бұрын
Having watched Adam work, what do you think the first thing he is going to add to the bench?
@AndrewKleinWW4 жыл бұрын
I don’t know, I am building light and power strip accessories for it, otherwise those certainly would be early in the list. However he wants to modify it is fine.

Beautiful. I am sad that you didn't show anything regarding the gears and their installation. In my opinion they are the main feature. Did you fabricate the gears yourself, or were they a kit?
@AndrewKleinWW4 жыл бұрын
I sell the kits to make the vises, sorry that wasn’t clear, I’m not always good about making videos understandable if you are new to the channel

Are your two cork rubbers offered on your store the same kind? What tool did you use to trim the excess cork sheet from the vise faces?
@AndrewKleinWW3 жыл бұрын
Yes, same material. I believe I used a utility knife blade on its own without the knife body … copy that at your own risk.

This is the best stuff I’ve found: www.whitelightningco.com/products/lubricants/clean-ride
@janitorbob20084 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewKleinWW I fully agree with using it, I started using it about 10 years ago when I kept getting frustrated with WD-40 gumming up with sawdust. Figured if it would lube my bike chain in dust and mud, sawdust shouldn't be a problem. Never looked back.

I stopped watching at 1:10 because I could not stand the horribly jarring music. I watched the Adam Savage bench build up to this point. I will be leery of watching anything else on this channel. That's how much the music disturbed me. I could not concentrate on the video at all.
