The platform is brilliant. Drivetrain, handling, comfort, tech/infotainment, build quality are all top, top notch in the 'under $100k' bracket. You really get what you pay for at base price. (You have to get at least some options, though, unless you want it to be 40% of the price after 3 years and 30k miles.) But most of the options are very expensive, and if you want all the bells and whistles, then the price becomes absurd. If you don't particularly enjoy driving, aren't savvy enough to make use of a car that talks to you (on a higher level than cheaper brands), and don't need leather everywhere, you don't need a BMW that starts at $60,000. But a MODERATELY optioned X5 from 2019/2020 (G generation) definitely earns the price tag compared to a cheaper brand. For example, an X5 with a 50% higher sticker than a Grand Cherokee feels like it's about 50% more car.

I'm considering the same - do you mind the fuel economy, especially given recent fuel prices? I've been looking at the x40i to address this, but I know the V8 is special. @@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow I have only heard good things about the X5 45e. Harry's Garage had one for a while and he did a review on it. He loves it. @ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow4 жыл бұрын
@@VSS1 It's hard to say if the hybrid would have more residual value after 7-10 years (the length of time I'd LIKE to keep the car). I think the bigger question is, will BMWs batteries last that long, and if not, how much to replace them? Yeah; saw Harry's Garage review -- it really impressed me. Mostly just not sure about the additional complications and potential headaches that could come with owning a BMW hybrid. And living an hour and a half from the dealership would suck if the car had to continually go in. I was thinking of the 530e, but on the forums there's significant people complaining. Although maybe BMW has worked more of the bugs out. But these things typically take years. It took them like 5 years before they changed the timing chain design on the n20 engines, which are grenading themselves now.

I'm so grateful for my 2017 F15 xDrive50i, and that I ordered it with 19" 50-series tires. Anything rides smooth on a smooth road, but here in Minnesota where the roads are minefields 8 months of the year, anything with an aspect ratio of less than 50 is a recipe for a.) a really rough ride and regular trips to the dentist to have your teeth re-set, and b.) at least one ruined wheel and tire per year, with the cost coming straight out of your back pocket. My xDrive50i has a controlled but supple ride. I can count on one hand the number of times I've spilled my drink on a rough road. And not a single bent rim or pinch-flatted tire so far.

anyone has thoughts on a BMW x5, I am currently driving a 2011 MDX with SH-AWD and 300HP. I test drove the 2023 Advance, it felt like a big boat with less HP than what I am used to, seems like the throttle response has been decreased in the effort of making it a tiny bit more efficient. However, when you drive a car with 300HP, its understandable that MPG's will suffer. I am looking for a used 2022 X5, I dont think I need to get a 2023 as the car seems to be identical. power wise, I am good with the base AWD 4.0 inline 6 cyl. I m very concerned about reliability. As my MDX has been extremely reliable and I now have 112K miles and the engine drives very smooth. However, my CD changer, stereo, bluetooth are no longer working. have experienced battery drainage so i am not paying to fix it. I do like the SH-aWD which makes the MDX drive as if it was a much smaller car in all weather condition. I have not test driven the x5 yet, as I am currently looking for a good deal and I believe January will have great deals on 2022 models. any advice is welcome.

In this case, the video reinforces the key value aspects that are tied directly to BMW vs anyone else. The comments relative to BMW not being a value brand are valid. What a great review, the opening intro music itself urged me to put a thumbs-up on the video right away. Whats the title of the music?

Totally agreed regarding the complaint on the Harman Kardon system on the X5 (it sucks). The X5 is worthy of a Mark Levinson system, or at the very least, Bang & Olufsen.

A bit quirky but you can obtain all the options mentioned like massaging front seats, heated rear seats. Heated and cooled front seats. Hang with the BMW advisor and build them out. However, I found the HK to be better than average. I have not heard the BW in an X5, but I’m sure it would send shivers down my spine. The PHEV version of the X5 means less visits to the gas station and I love that!

These are amazing cars. If i made 500k-1M, i'd have one and turn it in every 2 years...because they are TRASH on the used market. Shit breaks left and right. My first time driving one was a girl friends car. I was on the highway doing 95 and thought i was doing 70. The ride is that nice.

Lease a BMW, buy a Lexus. Used BMWs are ticking time bombs.

Loved the music in this episode, it really made the video for me, since i hate SUV's and especially ones I can't afford. Great job Goose .

Which motor do you have? I've been considering an X5 xdrive35i (or whateva they call the turbo I6 gas engine)
