Disclaimer: I really like the BMW brand and I disagree with the complaint which Thomas repeats way too often when he says, “every BMW interior looks the same“, because all of the German luxury brands do this but in those vehicles, it’s looked at as a virtue. Example, when the C-class gets a similar looking and functioning interior as the E or even the S class, its a wonderful thing and The same is true when it happens in a BMW or an Audi. So all of that said, I have to ask, why was there no mention of the safety rating? Most are probably aware, but it’s worth mentioning given primary function of this category is hauling around the family. Assuming safety would weigh heavily on the decision for most the buyers making this choice, the Tesla offers a massive leap forward in this respect. So much so, that in the event of any serious crash, it would likely be a matter of life or death for at least one member of the family and in some cases, it could be the difference between losing multiple members of your family vs losing none and that is only considering the results of an the actual impact, but the active safety and accident avoidance in Tesla represents another leap forward of almost equal proportion to the aforementioned structural benefit. I’ll leave it there but I think safety has a place in every car review even if it is just a couple minutes at the end for those who want to know. If you read this far, Thank you for your time and consideration, I offer my humble opinion purely as a little constructive criticism. Lastly, Thank you both for all the great content, I think I have watched and liked virtually every video.

I’ve had a Tesla Model X and although it is a very futuristic car, it really wasn’t worth the price I was paying. I got rid of it 2 years in. The handling, suspension and comfort of the seats were not at all worth the price. It’s a cool car to ride in, but would definitely never purchase it again. I can say that I agree with the way the future is going. I’ve had a BMW 3 series, Lexus RX, Infiniti M35 and a 350Z in the household. Loved them all, but still being gas, you have to deal with automatic transmission lag (manual in the 350z), not so instant torque and natural vibrations due to combustion of fuel. Not to mention maintenance costs to make a gas car survive. I have since experienced life with a model 3 and S and oh my goodness I was missing out. No vibration, instant torque, no pesky maintenance (oil, trans fluid, AC condenser, spark plugs, brake pads and rotors, exhaust components rusting) and it drives me to work mostly while saving 90 bucks a month in gas vs charging at home? Game over. Forgot to mention smoking M3s on the road. I can’t still appreciate gas cars but I highly prefer electric.

Testdrove a X5 and drove a model X yesterday. De Model X comes nowhere near the driving involvement of the X5. Whereas the Model X has some awkward side wing doors and white seats coming out of Star Trek, the X5 is a much better crafted and quality interior to sit in. Sure the model X is electric and goes faster to 60, but that's inherent to EV's. The BMW X5 may be cheaper to buy initially, but with the notorious BMW electrical and drivetrain issues that happen after a while, its probably gonna end up costing more than the Model X lmaoo

In all fariness, when discussing the price of electric vehicles vs ICE vehicles, you should include a discussion on the cost of ownership. Sure, electric vehicles are more expensive than ICE vehicles, and the Model X is more expensive then the BMW X5. But the cost of ownership, especially if you put some milage behind you each year, is actually a real factor when considering an electric vehicle. Even if the model X is the more expensive car, over the course of 3-5 years, it will most likely turn out to be quite a lot cheaper than the BMW X5.

I have always loved the X5, and this one looks really good. Though $16k to equip a ho-hum interior with luxury trinkets is beyond absurd. Regardless, the X5 is really conventional compared to the Model X. Tesla has raised the bar significantly. I don't get all giddy over an exhaust note, and I kinda wish automakers would quiet-down their performance mode exhausts. I also prefer the linear acceleration that EV's offer. And those doors are cool AF. So Model X, hands down.

If you could charge your Model X at home, what kind of commute from hell and back would you have to have to need Superchargers? Looking at the Supercharger map around Toronto, Superchargers seem to be everywhere. Where in the world are you going to to be out of range of a Supercharger? There are 6 Supercharger stations between Toronto and Quebec and one more in the permit stage.

+1 for the model X. That BMW looks to be the end of the line. Also, remember they're not equally priced. If you buy the BMW and plan to drive it 20,000km / year, then you're agreeing to also purchase about $5k in fuel. Over 5 years... that's an additional $25k that you're on the hook for. Not to mention the whole Earth conversation...

Finally somebody that comes to the point. First EV’s is the first step to avoid the crazy pollution and CO2. I have the idea nobody care about that. I used to drive BMW’s since 1982. When I drove those those cars and experience there styling it gave a nice feeling. But please get real , my latest BMW X3 3.0d which was completely paid off cost me almost the same per month then a brand new Tesla Model 3 All wheel drive which cost 60000 euro (private buy). The predicted ownership of a Tesla is way lower. 3 times lower cost for fuel. Lower predicted maintenance.( no oil change for motor and gearbox, no mechanical engine, the brakes last much much longer, etc). And I loved my latest BMW X3 driving , but the model 3 just feels like you are in a spaceship which came from another planet. Again the most important part, i help to save this planet and reduce pollution.

Instead of full glass roof, i would rather have solar panels that charges the model X while it is parked under the sun while i am at work
@duckylucky2225 жыл бұрын
This has been thought of before and you'd only get about three to four miles of range not really worth the price.

Yes but solar panels have come along way especially with micro inverters. Also at least if someone depletes the battery, the solar panel can come to the rescue

Missing light off-road test as the BMW X models have that design feature and I miss the towing comparision for towing campers or loads? What about usable flat bootspace?
