As soon as the main riff started your smile was instantaneous and then you started grooving to the guitar riff shows how awesome these guys were and how cool this song is. It is really awesome to see that reaction! I knew these guys down in Palm Harbor, Fla gong back to the early 80's when they were know as Avatar then changed their name to Savatage. Been a big fan for 40+ years .Thanks for posting up this video let's keep Criss alive by turning everyone on to his music.

Chis Olivia (guitar) was one of the best!! Saw him play this live with a broken fret finger in 87, still shredded!! Savatage and Armored Saint were 2 of the most underated true metal bands. Best songs- Sirens, Legions, Hall of Mountain King, City beneath the surface, 24 hrs ago, Hounds.

Love seeing people still discovering Savatage. One of the most underrated bands in Metal history. Criss Oliva (the guitarist) was unfortunately killed by a drunk driver who had 7 DUIs under their belt when their car collided into Criss' killing him instantly and severely wounding his wife, who would go on to pass away a number of years later. Savatage had some great albums post Criss Oliva, but none ever matched what Criss did. Again, they're great albums but it did feel different. Savatage eventually broke up - and Jon formed Jon Oliva's Pain and he and Paul O'Neil (their producer) formed TSO. Of late, Johnny Lee Middleton (second guitarist in the band's early history prior to Criss' death) and Jon have been collaborating and hinting at a new Savatage that has some darker sounds. Jon has said the album is to be called "Curtain Call" (working title) and meant to be a "This is it. No more after this."

Definitely a band worth exploring in depth. They brought a new singer in for the Edge of Thorns cd, so John could focus more on the keyboards. In truth I think he was crushed by Criss's death. They are brothers. Criss was killed and his wife was critically injured by a drunk driver while they were returning from a music festival.. But Jon never left the band. In fact he fronts a couple of songs on every cd after Edge of Thorns. I would like to see you delve into Dead Winter Dead, and the Wake of Magellan cd's. you will love them. They did eventually morph into Trans Siberian Orchestra. Their signature Christmas song is actually a Savatage song called Christmas Eve, Sarajevo . . . from Dead Winter Dead.

Cris Oliva the guitarist was taking away from us so early in his career. He isn't really well known, but such a freaking awesome guitarist! He's the lead singers brother. ..jon oliva.

Their catalog is a grab bag full of surprises. This record, Hall of the Mountain King, is their darkest album. The rest of them are great in their own right, but this is the only one with that Haunting feel. Maybe Sirens and Dungeons are Calling. Somewhat Power of the Night. Everything they did from their debut through Edge of Thorns is great if only for the Criss factor. Sadly he was taken from us and now we are left with Christmas music
