A pole with a carabiner taped to it and a matchstick to hold the gate open works. Snagging the anchor knocks the matchstick out and lets the carabiner close and lock.

The superclip is worth it. It allows you to remove draws that are clipped. IMO, it's the one thing that makes stick clip brilliants. It allows you to really try your hardest on sport without leaving gear!

You can rapell of most bolts.. just thread the rope trought the hanger or glue in. I know its not ideal, but its well safe enought and cheaper than leaving gear.

@@HochstartHarry Makes sense if you check there is no sharp edge on it first. Also bolts can break: there were a few accidents... The superclip is probably worth the investment!
@YannCamusBlissClimbing7 ай бұрын
But then would it work on ANSI carabiners? O you need the "superclip rescue"?
@tomcanac8507 ай бұрын
@@YannCamusBlissClimbingI use the pongoose stick clip and it gives me everything I want personnaly. I don't think any stick clip will allow you to remove a locker from a bolt, that would be crazy!! But most normal stick clips, allows you to put a locker, and remove tensionned draws. I appreciate your option being cheap. but I think having the superclip (rescue or not) gives really the most of your option. @HochstartHarry I could do this for a bail situation, but it won't be part of my daily routine. Here I speak being able on a daily and safe basis to stick clip the 2-3 first bolts of a hard-for-me climb, work it, then just remove everything safely and easily. It just removes most of the friction of trying 5.13s for me, and this is personnaly what I need to climb harder.

Nice ideas Yann. I've always just used a stick from a tree, shove it into the dogbone and put a twig or a small rock between the gate and the nose of the carabiner to keep it open. Caveman style!

Hi Yann, love your videos so please keep the great work... I did something similar with a 3m carbon fiber selfie stick (12 bucks on aliexpress) + a stiff piece of metal wire (1mm?) shaped as the Metolius Superclip and wrapped around a threaded metal nut matching the selfie stick thread. Maybe the clip itself is not worth the hassle, but certaily recommend the selfie stick as it's compact and just sturdy enough

That sounds like a good option!! Thanks for the hint! I am used to 5m now ;-)

Why is the title "save 350$" if you think a clip stick costs 350 I need to start selling them to people in your neighborhood. 😂
@YannCamusBlissClimbing7 ай бұрын
I just found one at that price (link in the description). Apparently it is worth the money but I don’t own one!!!

It's also usually les cheaper than this. It's around 70€ in France currently (but I still made mine for like 1€ with an old fishing stick. @@YannCamusBlissClimbing
