Ooh behind the curtain, nice video and the sponge in particular looks great

Discovering that sponge was honestly life-changing. Sounds hyperbolic, but so many hours of my life are spent painting

I think finding a good cellulose sponge is key. My sandwich case is quite a bit smaller than this, which is fine as I paint about once annually, I found a white sponge that more accurately renders the colour of the paint I'm mixing; and because my palette is smaller, I don't have any folds to work around.

Best part of this vid: covering water level. I’ve never been able to figure that part out.

I think many many people are likely to be under watering their sponge. Really glad you got something useful from the video!

Found this really useful, seeing you put together your palette, thanks Stu! Happy enough with my palette but will give the paper a try as I'm not impressed with the stuff I have.

What brand name paper did you wind up using? Thank you

Generally I use the Atellier papers, from Amazon

I'm currently using a wet palette based on the original Redgrass case, paper towel for a sponge and parchment paper for the sheet. I rinse the parchment paper after use and like to swap them between minis, so about 5 sessions on average. I only paint for an hour and I've never been able to keep my paints in the palette overnight. For one, a single session will fill my palette as I mix, and two, the paint absorbs way too much water from the palette. I wonder what yours looks like the next day - perhaps you just work with wetter paint than me.

I do work with pretty wet paint, but I also make sure to give it a "breathe" before I start using it.

I have the redgrass palette, but nothing ever keeps over night. all the paints tend to separate.

Do you breathe it like I showed in this video? I find it really helps.

I'm sure it'll come by the end of the year...would be amazing to see it sooner though!

I know you're UK based, but when you put in Amazon links could you also include North American ones? I tried searching for the Spunj, and never found it. I guess I didn't scroll thru enough pages?

Amazon generally shows stuff from overseas if it'll ship to another country, so there's no need for multiple links. I just took a look at it seems like the two brands I use aren't available in the US. If you instead do a search for "cellulose sponge cloth" you should find something similar though.
