Audacity is like one of those apps that is so versatile that I'm shocked that it's 100% free. It's so feature-packed that I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos.

This is awesome for me. Thank you. I have edited 3 podcasts and they have taken me a minimum of 5 hours. I have left my recent (4th) podcast unedited for a while (weeks) because of the specifics of the guest I am talking to. His patterns, our interruptions, and all the silences, have put me off continuing to edit it: removing the silences, now cuts the audio. So your Command and L will hopefully save me a lot of time and avoid chopping the audio. Thanks again.

Great tips, Mike. One question please. Wouldn't applying the "magic number" remove softer spoken words and phrases on the host's track (said by the host)? How can that be avoided? Thanks for your awesome channel.
@MikeRussell2 ай бұрын
Awesome question! Yeah, the "magic number" can be a bit of a double-edged sword. Just play around with your audio settings to keep those soft bits in check. Thanks for watching!

Does command L work on Microsoft operating systems?
@MikeRussell23 күн бұрын
Yes, Command L is a shortcut that works on Macs, but on Windows, you can use Ctrl L instead to achieve the same result.

I cut as much of the "um" and "you know," as I can out of my wife's podcast...but her co-host does the "mhmm" and "yeah" a lot, and I leave it in. Maybe I shouldn't but, there was about a 5 minute segment she wanted to splice into the middle of the episode, I pasted a few of his "mhmm" with it and it was like he was there when she recorded it. She kinda decided she needed a new co-host after that.
@MikeRussellАй бұрын
That's hilarious, I'm sure your wife was surprised to hear her co-host's "mhmm"s magically appear in the recording!
