What a lot of people forget is getting certain options from the factory (suspension, bumpers, etc) will protect your factory warranty. If you are one of those "ill just get it lifted later" or "go aftermarket later" folks keep in mind the risk to a warranty.

Your comment was refreshing. 15 to 20 years ago, my kids were car-seat age and I had a TJ, while my now-ex wife was using my Porsche 924S to get back and forth to work in. I'd have "Karen" types offer their unsolicited "Don't you think it's time you grew up and got a family car" comments in supermarket parking lots when out doing the shopping with my daughter. My daughter once set a "Karen" straight, responding to the unsolicited "don't you think its time to grow up and get a four-door family car" comment with "He can't sell the Jeep because it's part of the family, too." She went on to say "And as a family, we go places together and do things that other families without a Jeep can't do." A couple of years ago, I bought a four-wheel drive Xterra. My daughter was disappointed. "I was hoping you'd get another Jeep, so we could go some of those places we used to go." I've since bought a CJ 2A, and it was actually my daughter who found it and suggested I buy it. My sister and I grew up with a first-generation Bronco as our "family car." We didn't miss the four doors it didn't have. Anyhow, I agree with you and dislike the looks of the four-door Bronco (and Wrangler, too) and thinks it looks even more hideous with a soft-top.

So I appreciate your opinion on most categories. However we differ on the Sasquatch package. When you look into the package and price building it yourself , it truly gives you more prospective. It is a complete axle and suspension change. By the time you buy all the parts and ( in most cases) pay to have them installed, you not only spent a lot but you lost your warranty

After driving it, I'd recommend the Black Diamond over the Outer Banks, The vinyl seats are surprisingly nice and more durable than the cloth or leather. I've gone back and forth and originally I was gonna do the Black Diamond, with or without Sasquatch (At first with, later a maybe). But I realized that really the non sasquatch Badlands is also a really good value. You get front and rear lockers, you get 33" tires which are pretty decent sized and spec'd and the biggest in the lineup except for the Sasquatch or Wildlands. You get the disconnect, which I could live without but hey, it's basically thrown in because you aren't having to upgrade to Sasquatch to get lockers, and a better suspension and skid plates and the modular bumper. You also get signature LED lighting front, and LED rear signals which are BRIGHT and good looking. So the more basic Badlands with the mid package, (or higher if you want 360 camera which is really cool). In short if you aren't gonna Sasquatch a Diamond, you are better off getting the Badlands trim with the mid or high package. If you don't need the front locker, don't care about 360 camera or signature LED lighting. Don't need a sway disconnect, then Black Diamond is definitely the way to go, especially non sasquatch with the smaller motor and 32" tires. This is going to get better mileage and still be fairly capable. You can always throw bigger tires on it later if you want to. But keep in mind you don't get the high end Bilstein position sensitive shocks unless you get the Diamond Sasquatched. You DO get them on the Badlands standard trim WITHOUT the Sasquatch. Which makes it a terribly good deal. They say the Sasquatch adds a bit of ground clearance on the Badlands, but I am guessing that the ground clearance comes from the tires, and not from any major suspension lift. Bilstein position sensitive shocks either way. So yea, if you don't need huge tires you might want to get a Badlands without Sasquatch, it's surprisingly affordable compared to a Sasquatched Diamond. 6 one way, half a dozen the other. For me, leaning towards the Badlands since it is top dog which should help resale, has the LED signature lighting which is distinctive, and has all the protection, bells and whistles, Sasquatch or not. Diamond is an excellent value, but somewhat more plain. And I know a lot of you that is what you are looking for, to save money. Good luck and good driving. Databyter

@Databyter
@Databyter 2 жыл бұрын
@@freedomsrt8 yeah, then again, all you're gonna get is better wheels and tires and if you get the non sasq. Badlands you can sell your wheels and tires and buy an aftermarket which is perhaps more unique and better suited for you. 6 of one, half dozen of another. At the end I decided to go Non sasq Badlands just to have something a bit more managable on the road, slightly better MPG, and figured if I wanted I could always add bigger tires or beadlocks later. A 2 dr. manual Badlands 2.3 non sasq was what I was looking at when I finally settled on a build. It would have been badass and I may still get one down the road. But I ended up buying a Subaru Outback Wilderness this time around. Cheaper, Better MPG,. Better commuter and camper. I'll pick up a Badlands on the used depreciated market in a few years for 35K. Sasquatch is 4.7 ratio with the auto transmission. There is so much trail tech in the Bronco that there isn't any point anymore in the 7 speed manual. Im a single guy with no kids but my practical brain is calling for four doors even though i prefer the aesthetics, and emotions that are evoked by the 2 door design! And while I'd prefer a manual, I think you've talked me into that mid package which requires upgrading to an auto. Cactus grey is the color for me ....reminds me of the retro Bronco's and it looks great with the black steelies that come standard on the Black Diamond. I don't need Sasquatch either since this will be my daily driver in Ohio. I'll happily save that $5k. However, if I were still living in California, I would probably go Sasquatch since there are so many opportunities out there to put it to use. In Ohio, I'd probably go off roading once or twice a year and no way in hell would I attempt rock crawling in my brand new, shiny Bronco! And I'd also add that tow package so I can haul my zero turn mower to my mom's place to mow.

I think you meant to say "Perfect dirt road set up" instead of "Perfect overland set up". True overlanding, not the overused version of the term where people simply confuse camping with true overlanding, you would want the ability to go over obstacles to get to areas other "campers" can't get to.....then have the ability to move to another location, then another location, etc. You want the 35" tires and lockers.

@@8654ZuluFoxtrot Nope. You’re talking about a purpose built vehicle. Big tires and extreme suspension for extreme trails. Overlanding is more an expedition set up. Long excursions where reliability is more important than extreme capabilities. It needs to be multipurpose where as a single big tired rig is a single purpose for extreme capabilities. You load those rigs with spare parts and tools. Smaller 33’ tires is more ideal for overlanding as it’s less wear. The Badlands comes with front and back lockers and disconnect sway bar. So all the good off-road needs without having to get wide 35’ tires. So again the perfect overland set up.

I think there are times where a different approach is necessary. For example: Need a four door with roof rails? That will limit your model, trim, and engine, so you need to research it from that angle. Need marine-grade vinyl seats? That too will limit your model. Have kids and want the whole suite of safety features such as emergency steering, BLIS, blue cruise (or whatever they call it), etc.? Then you need a certain model. My experience with the build-and-price tool, both for 2021 and 2022, is that it is very much like a puzzle: Choose "X", and you can't have "Y". Choose "A", "B", or "C", and you can't have "D". Sometimes, the tool will tell you. Sometimes, you simply won't see the existence of an option depending on the other choices you've already made. Given this, you need to figure out what your "must-haves" are first, and use that to guide your build decisions. For me, that quickly ruled out everything but Badlands. Your mileage may vary.

Big Bend adds a couple features that you can't get on the base and I wanted those features from the get go, but didn't think I'd have enough time to save. So, here we go! 2022, hurry up!

The High Package is key if you live in a colder climate due to the heated seats. I wasn't been able to add them to the Black Diamond and because we wanted wash out floors we had to get the Badlands. And if you add Lux to the Badlands it automatically spec'd carpet and leather. So High is the best package for utility! We also live at Sea Level so went with the 2.3L Manual. I order the badlands 4 door, 2.7, MIC top, eruption green, lux, tow with the sasquatch. I drove the Sasquatch at the Bronco Offroadeo in Moab on the Dome Plateau trails. The offroad capability of this setup is remarkable. There were badlands in our group on the 33s and they were capable, but had waaaay more rock rubs even on the 2 doors than the 4 door sasquatch were. I agree that the less than 2 inch clearance difference between the non sas baddy and the Badsquatch doesn't sound like much, but it makes a difference. So do the wider/taller 35 inch Sasquatch tires with regards to float and traction. Having done major offroad mods and lifts to many pickups and jeeps aftermarket over the years, there is no way to warranty mechanical issues you might run into with all that offroad driveline and suspension gear on your truck. Many hours of engineering and tuning by Ford went into the Sasquatch package. We need to try to remember that this engineering specific to this vehicle is what you are paying for, not just the gear itself. No aftermarket suspension gear will ever go through as many miles of testing.. the sasquatch package is designed so that the heavy bronco won't eat your tires due to altered alignment and geometry. It won't prematurely wear your driveline components, it won't change the spring rates/ruin your ride quality, and nobody can ever claim that your odometer is off when dealing with a warranty issue. It's worth the money unless you are going to flip your Bronco in 3 years. It's also worth the money if you're buying a bronco to do anything other than drive to a hiking trailhead. If you go to an OHV park of any type anywhere, get the Sasquatch and don't Mod it until after your warranty expires.

Young Ford in Brigham City Utah is charging a "Market Adjustment" of $20,000 on their Broncos and $5,000 on Bronco Sports. Disagree with the Sasquatch package being something to forego. The gearing, lockers, wheels and tires is actually a very good deal. If you are going off-road, and you should, you will eventually want bigger tires, and re-gearing the axles alone would be $2,000.00.

@@TFLtruck Tommy, an inherent problem I see in these videos is that they assume everyone is broke and wanting to pinch pennies when they are buying a brand new vehicle. If you've got the money and are going to want these features eventually, the smartest money is to pay for them now and have the features now in a factory designed and installed system, with the commensurate reliability and resale value included. I get tired of seeing people claim that no one will want to take an "expensive" vehicle offroad when I see people with $100k plus in their Jeeps with them off road all the time.
@JeepJL
@JeepJL 3 жыл бұрын
@@TFLtruck The open diffs would actually be better than the optional rear locker you recommended. Not even looking at off-road, but like most of the Wranglers out there, some will never see anything but the road, yet still have 35" tires. Opt for the locking rear diff only and you get a 4.27 axle ratio. With stock 28" tall tires. ANY tire upsize and you'll lose 10th gear on the highway. Go all the way to 35" and you'll likely lose 9th as well. So your 10 speed transmission is now only an 8 speed. There will be a large fuel economy hit, and very sluggish feeling Bronco. The Sasquatch package gives you those 35" tires, and the 4.7 gear ratio means you have all 10 gears on road, and a Bronco that won't feel like a complete slug off the line. If you buy a Bronco with the locking rear diff option (or even if you don't) you are going to need to spend at least $1500 for the new tires, $2000 to regear the axles so it at least drives decently, and a suspension lift to fit the tires under the vehicle. Probably another $2000. The Sasquatch package is just good value. You get the tires, suspension lift, decent looking wheels, fender flares that will keep it all legal, AND lockers for those that decide to take it off road as a bonus.

You can't get adaptive cruise-control on the Black Diamond trim-level, and you're limited to only the marine-grade vinyl seats. Those are the two reasons I went ordered the Outer Banks trim-level instead. (I ordered it in that new Eruption Green color -- I really like that color!) And I went with the soft-top because of all the issues y'all have had with your hard-top. Maybe Ford's supplier is making better tops these days, or maybe not. But the main reason I went with the soft-top is that I want the ability to put down my top all the way without having to remove it and store it somewhere. And, yeah, I went with the Sasquatch package, even though it's only going to be off the pavement like 1% of the time, LOL. It just looks *so* much better than the regular Bronco does, IMHO.
