This is really helpful. MIDI seems so complicated to me and most guides all talk about setting up entire boards for midi and all this complicated stuff. But I’m just wanting to really use it for the kernom just like this for basic preset changing, so I can take 3 different drive pedals off my board and just get the Kernom. Thanks for this

Just ordered the MOHO and the Hotone controller. Be here tomorrow. Cool vid I appreciate the help. I have a question- I plan on getting an Eventide H90 soon. Can the Hotone control the presets for the Kernom and the H90 at the same time? For instance can I program preset 1 to have hi gain Kernom sound with reverb on the H90 with just one click that controls parameters on both pedals? Cheers.
@BlugubriousMusic29 күн бұрын
@@johnnyray8675 I am almost certain the answer to that question is yes and I think it has to do with Daisy chaining the pedals together going out of one into the other... But I have no idea how to program that as far as what to do with the hotone so it's controlling one and not the other.... Sorry I don't have better info for you

Can you adjust things like the volume AFTER you've already set it as a preset and called it up? Basically, can you override a preset 'on the fly' without having to save anything -just twist the knobs and something different happens from the preset that's already been called up? Thanks in advance anyone who can help me on this!!
@BlugubriousMusicАй бұрын
Yes, you can adjust on the fly. One thing to keep in mind is that the knobs are not usually 'accurate' to your presets (unless it is the most recent preset you saved). So, say you have a low gain setting and it is saved as a preset... then you raise the gain and save a higher gain preset, the current knob position is now not representing the first one... so if you go back to that first one, the gain knob is not actually reflecting the current preset... but, you can indeed just raise the gain and not save the preset. Next time you access, it will go back to the saved settings. Feel free to ask for more clarification if needed. This is exactly why I made this video! Happy to help.

@ that's wonderful! Thank you for your explanation! Thank you for getting back to me! Thank you for the video in the first place and thank you for your swift reply! I wonder if I may ask another question? I'm gonna go for a cheap MVAVE chocolate style foot switches because I'm not 100% sure I should really get too involved in MIDI so I thought I'd "dip my toe in the water", so to speak. What cable would I need to connect a KERNOM to that kind of budget pedal board, please? I understand it would be a typeA MIDI one and would be a jack of some sort but beyond that I'm a bit lost…
@BlugubriousMusicАй бұрын
@@BeesWaxMinder I would hate to mislead you here. Me getting the Ampero was my first toe dip in the water and I only found it could do the job by asking the folks at Kernom. I can tell you that the jacks on the Ridge itself are the small MIDI which are identical to a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the Ampero end, it is the 10 pin typical MIDI... the A versus B issue is pin layout I found out, so they are not interchangeable even though they look almost identical. Assuming there is an adapter from the MVAVE 10 pin side to the 3.5mm side (which is male), I assume it would work. Shoot the folks at Kernom an email via their site... they are very helpful. I am just a garden variety user out here! Ha ha.
@BlugubriousMusicАй бұрын
@@BeesWaxMinder Quick follow-up to the last one... I think you can do either wired or wireless with the MVAVE and the wired side might work with a plain old stereo headphone extension cable... just need it to be the big headphone jack on once side (into MV pedal) and little on the other (into Ridge or whatever pedal is controlled by MIDI)... the note I just sent assumed the wireless route. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have more questions... happy to help... I feel like there is not enough help out there for toe-dippers! Ha ha.

What about the latency between changing presets? How noticable it is?
@BlugubriousMusic Жыл бұрын
You asked a good question! I just did a test... and you have a couple of switch options in the Ampero - my presets have all been the default "Single" mode... which has been fine for me, but the preset engages when you let go of the button rather than when you press - that could be seen as latency, BUT and it is important... just to test for you, I programmed using "momentary" mode and it is instant - no latency - when you depress the button... so, no... there does not have to be latency. As far as noticable... in my latest update vid, I show there is no click/pop/noise when switch, perfectly smooth... smoother than try bypass switches actually. Hope this helps... feel free to ask more if you need
@ricardoaxelgarciadiaz6149 Жыл бұрын
@@BlugubriousMusicthanks for replying! I would check The new video soon. There's no latency even if you change drastically from one type of clippling to another? (For example having a preset with a light boost and recalling a new preset with a PC that has a very distorted sound)

I have the Kernom MOHO and ordered this MIDI controller just because of this video! But now I’m having trouble. I’m a MIDI noob. I’m starting from scratch and just basically trying to put 4 diff fuzz sounds on the 4 foot switches. I can successfully program 1 sound under FS1 in the app, but I press FS2 in the app and try to program the second sound. It accepts the program but when I click FS1 nothing happens. It won’t switch back to the first sound I created. I can create a preset but my second preset fails. I’m trying to do all 4 sounds in the same bank. Surely I don’t need to use a different bank for each preset? I appreciate this video and I don’t mean to be a critic, but any chance you can make one with a completely blank app and no presets already programmed? You go really fast and I know I’m getting lost somewhere but I can’t figure out why. I’ve watched this video a half dozen times and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong! I’m not stupid! Help! Lol
@BlugubriousMusic24 күн бұрын
I would probably be best to carry on either in email or with a video call or something... I can't start from scratch as that would mean I have to delete all my own presets (because the app and the pedal's presets are linked). One thing I did note as read and reread you email is you pressed FS2 before programming the pedal it sounds like... actually pressing the physical footswitch is the last step (pun intended) in the process, so if you are starting with a footswitch as a beginning of a preset program, there is something wrong there... I assume you are using the Ampero right and not another MIDI pedal? I ask that because they don't all program the same... my email address is on my channel page... feel free to shoot me a note... not sure where you are, but I can try to help you work through it if possible. I do recall getting messed up on not giving the preset names numbers... maybe there is a hangup there. In the second half of the video, I remember doing a 'from scratch' quick program... sorry it is giving you trouble... like I said, I do not work for Kernom... I am just a MIDI noob too!
@johnnyray867524 күн бұрын
@ Thx for the reply! Yeah I meant I pressed FS2 in the app to set up the PC parameters and what not before I pressed the actual FS2 on the controller to lock in the preset. Sry that wasn’t clear. But yes it is the Hotone Ampero controller, which I bought because of your video. I thought “oh this video explains it” so I’ll be able to handle the programming. Guess I thought too soon! Lol I’m sure it’s something in the app I’m not setting just right. The app isn’t the most user friendly if you ask me. Kind of jumbled mess and difficult to get familiar with. I’m going to look at it again with rested eyes tomorrow and if I still can’t figure it I will email Hotone first and then you if I can’t get resolution. Thanks for being so responsive and trying to help. Means a lot. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

The KR looks like a great pedal especially with the midi capability. The only downside I can see is if you had 5 or 6 saved overdrive presets it wouldn’t appear these would be easily ’tweakable’ at a gig as you can’t actually visibly see the OD settings. But that would be asking a lot and also up the price!
@BlugubriousMusic Жыл бұрын
If you get the update (you can watch my other video on that) you can see and hear the difference with the way the lights blink e.g. if you adjust the preset live... say the gain knob... it blinks until it is in its 'preset' position... once there, light goes solid and any turn after that is adjusting it... then a press/hold on/off saves it if you want to... so, it is pretty tweakable. I might even say you could work that to your advantage and set up a few jumping off point presets with the express goal of tweaking them... just a thought. But check out the updated video... I actually adjust a preset in it with the update (and all new ones ship like that).

@BlugubriousMusic11 ай бұрын
I'm not exactly sure what your question means... What I can tell you is you can put a preset on all four buttons then move up to the next four and put four more and then move up to the next four and so on... For a total of 128... It goes 1 through 4 then you push up 5 through 8 then you push up 9 through 12...
@BlugubriousMusic11 ай бұрын
From the website 100 banks (each bank includes 4 footswitches settings, 2 CTRL/EXP jack settings and more) That means 4 presets (one per button) per bank 1-4 then up 5-8 then up 9-12, etc.
