The only reason Steve remained in the show after season one as an important character is because everybody fell in love with him, and one of the guys who works in the production was like, if you kill Steve, i'm out... so they kept him; and they were very glad they did.

By now you have seen the epic episode 7 and a lot of your questions have been answered. The last 2 episodes are nothing short of the best TV ever produced. Both could be award winning movies. They're also very, very emotional. After it was all said and done, after the final episode, I hated Jason more than I hated Papa. Lastly, correct, high schoolers in the 80's didn't use the internet, but they did create it.

29:00 Think about it, the older kids were there for years, tested day in and day out, proper and normal socialization pretty much completely foregone in place of "games" that taught them it's okay to hurt others as long as you get Papa's approval. I would have expected all of them to be pretty fucked up. And Brenner really is the most evil character in the show so far, hands down. Presumably all of these kids first off were born from questionable testing done on pregnant women, stolen from their parents and groomed into would-be-weapons. And then he has the audacity to act like he cares and call Eleven "daughter" 🤮

dustin's pants were a version of what they called 'cargo pants'. they had lots of pockets and were awesomely comfortable, and looked darn good on many people. Dustin not so much. DnD paranoia was a very real thing in the 80s. Everything they say about that fear, the articles, the shows, actually happened. there was even a movie starring a very young and not famous Tom Hanks about a college student who goes a bit crazy because of.....you guessed it. they called it something else in the movie, not DnD, but it was obvious what they were talking about. I remember thinking it was a load of crap, it was just a game. but the really churchy crowd behaved very predictably about it. Stranger things represents it well. edit: the movie was Mazes and Monsters. jason is clearly a narcissist as shown from minute one and his speech regarding winning the game. he is also a psychopath, and perhaps would have remained a non-violent one if the combo of grief and obsessive hate hadn't broken his mind. brenner ia another narcissist. he is right about many many things he tells 11. he is wrong in thinking she belongs to him to do what he wants without regard for what she wants. i'm not saying he's a good guy. or a bad guy. i'm saying he is both. like many. (mostly bad)

If I had a nickel for every time Steve was approaching a season finale nearly dead/beat up, I'd have so many nickels that I wouldn't be able to actually use this joke properly Also, I know they haven't done too much in terms of the actual plot, but I kinda like the dynamic of the California crew. Argyle is completely out of it. Jonathan is vibing. Mike and Will have gotten closer again. It's nice. But also, the show deciding to frame Argyle and Eden's love at first sight relationship as super comedic. A total joke. Wow. A relationship formed without properly getting to know the other is seen as humorous, especially if the "love" is immediate. And Argyle is wearing a large yellow shirt. I sure hope this isn't paralleling anything in the show.
