This is going to deprive me of that reassuring 6S spark on initial connection letting me instantly know I have a fully charged battery. 😂

It protects with spool ups caused by hardware, wetness, shorts or software. And human pilot errors with arm- and disarming

To be honest i found this product a brilliant idea , maybe the shape of to be a little longer and narrow to fit in a heat shrink along with the wires will be even better

We are looking into making the SSDly Module Smaller. We do not supply wires since different will have different needs

@lasersbee In any way who ever created have done a great work , a useful tool👍i done mean to supply the wires, i mean to do the hardware in a shape long like wire so it is gone be much easier for a good fitting

Great idea ! One downside is of course you gonna lose lipo-beeper functionality turn it off with multiple bat plug in and off.. I think it is better and faster to turn off the lipo beeper with a button anyway...

i wonder what will happen if it failes mid flight 🤔🤔🤔
@lasersbeeКүн бұрын
Same thing that would happen if and ESC fails
@Sugalime3D_FPVКүн бұрын
@@lasersbee Yes and no. The more devices you have in series the higher will be the probability for a general fail. Is similar like using one hard disc drive or 2 hdds in raid0. That is one the downsides of this device of course.

I think the SSDly is cool. I think adding a dual color surface mount LED would be a cool addition. RED illumination for SSDly in power on and delay state. GREEN illumination once the delay state is completed. Can never have enough status LED

I've seen similar applications in home battery storage with the battery inverter, whereby to avoid a spark and potentially damaging the inverter's capacitors, there is a shunt that is activated by the battery management system at startup. This allows a trickle current to the inverter to prime the capacitors before the shunt time delay is reached. However, if you have big inverters (or multiple inverters) the maximum delay of seven seconds is not enough, so people use a workaround and tend to bridge the shunt with a 50-70 ohm resistor for a minute or two to further prime the capacitors before switching the BMS on. I mention this because, if the use case is the same (protecting the capacitors from a current surge), you could just use the workaround. In other words, attach a resistor between the battery pack and the flight controller/esc for, say, 30 seconds, then remove it and connect the battery directly. This would allow the capacitors to get primed and *not* use something in series except prior to start-up. Anyway, just an idea if the issue is similar.

I'm not sure if that delay will have good or bad results if there is a problem with the quad...

How many amps ? And whats the voltage drop ?
@lasersbeeКүн бұрын
I'll get back to you here tomorrow morning after I get back to the Shop with the answers to your questions.
@lasersbee22 сағат бұрын
As Promised... The voltage drop across the SSDly Module on a 6S Li-Po is 3-5 MilliVolts. We chose a High Current Mosfet to get a low ON Resistance component.

@@lasersbee Thx 5mV Thats 0.005V 100A * 0.005V = 0.5W thats nothing 👌🏻 so heat should also be a non issue

woah nice, maybe next development could be mounted on PDB... and added signal trigger for "high power" on or off... and added low current mode for standby.... so its will make drone more safer if something wrong with esc?fc? that potentialy make sudden motor on, or esc fire.... current limiting mode can make motor on but only on idle, if something hit/touch the motor current will spike and voltage drop... cause to restart... and safe your/our hand, and if something cause fire just swtch to current limiting and the fire will stop... or 3 mode 1.current limit, 2.power cut, 3. full power...

I’d rather use an anti spark xt90 with a resistor on a larger build

The idea is good, but it is exposed and not super convenient. What would be great would be to see that integrated directly into ESCs !
@Sugalime3D_FPVКүн бұрын
what is that maximum time for the esc music ? And can the quad spool up directly even if that music hasn't finished ?
@lasersbee22 сағат бұрын
@@Sugalime3D_FPV The Spool Up music depends on the ESC manufacturer. It is there to tell you that the ESC has booted up.
@Sugalime3D_FPV22 сағат бұрын
@@lasersbee This means that the music itself is just a signal/indication that the ESC has booted. This means that the motors could theoretically start up before or while the melody is playing. This means that the music cannot delay the time until the ESC actually really starts up ?

Thanks Ian sir. Very cool

How susceptible is this timer mosfet driver circuit to noise? That circuit fails it loses power. Guaranteed. Nah its an extra single fail point. A hard delay could be coded into esc firmware. Already got beeps and boops to give user feedback
