Hey folks, in this nightcap I wanted to make this video for those of you out there that think they are permanently stuck with names and numbers you no longer want on your jerseys..thanks for watching and the normal videos will be back tomorrow 🙂👍

Well done for using the appropriate tool for removing the treading. My mother was a seamstress in her younger days and I inhereted one of them amongst her stitch and repair kit. Also a good tip to protect the crest when last of the glue. A couple of jersey maintenance tips that I got from the wife of the @TheHockeyGuy. Always wash the jersey inside out to protect the crest/numbers etc and NEVER spin dry your hockey jersey as you will ruin the crest.

@@neilflood6508 well that made one of us lol..I did watch a few videos on this before attempting to do it of course, I also snagged the jersey a few times but nothing I cant live with considering its been just sitting in my closet since I bought it..I will update what it looks like after I get it dry cleaned also regarding the creases and also when I get numbers put back on as well

How many jerseys do you have, Wayne? I’m a jersey collector, so I don’t exclusively have Sabres jerseys…probably up around 60 total now. Sabres-wise, I have a Cozens home, blank away in the current royal blue, an Eichel home in the navy, Eichel Reverse Retro, Dahlin 50th, Hasek black goat head, Briere road Buffaslug, blank home Buffalug, blank red butter knives, blank white goat head and a LaFontaine road throwback that fanatics just put out not too long ago. A video showing of you Sabres gear/merch might be a cool idea in the future. 🙂

I got about 10 I think 🤔 tell you what, I will do a video on them eventually when I get my Rene Robert jersey finalized..I got an autographed one of him also but the jersey sucks, so I plan to get the numbers transferred on a blank CCM Vintage I bought for that spefically and this jersey in this video I got a 'few ideas' lol

my signed jerseys I got Perreault, Martin, Hasek and soon Robert blues jerseys, a Perreault and Martin white jerseys..so 6 there, the 50th anniversary 2 times, and our current home and away jerseys so 4 there..also I do have the 40th anniversary jersey packed somewhere, my Gretzky Team Canada jersey and my Homer jersey = 13 I think 🤔

So I’m a Jersey collector and the last Jersey I need for my Sabres collection is the 2018 Winter Classic Authentic Jersey and I want it blank. That’s a hard jersey to find right now and the only ones I find are knock offs. I saw an Authentic one for sale online that’s Jack Eichel in my size when he wore #15. I was thinking about buying it and attempting to try and remove the numbers and nameplate to make it blank. Do you think it’s worth it to buy it and attempt this or wait and see if one comes up that’s already blank in my size? Thank You

You can use acetone instead of VLR. If the adhesive is light, rubbing alcohol might work. If the lettering adhesive is thick, acetone in a spot cleaning gun will blast it off.

Does it work better than S.P.I.F? Also what kind of jerseys did you use it on?

@@BadassBravoBarbaroNL I work mostly on baseball jerseys, double knit material and sewn on lettering. I won't describe the use of a seam ripper to remove stitching, My comments focus on the sometimes stubborn adhesive used to affix the letters. (I have removed silkscreened lettering and numbers, but that requires a whole other topic.) Here's how I use VLR/SPIF/acetone/alcohol. In order, VLR is the most effective and the most expensive. Followed by SPIF, then acetone. Rubbing alcohol is cheapest but not always effective. For the most part, acetone has been effective, and it's not as costly as VLR and SPIF. So I've removed the stitching, but the sewn on tackle twill is tightly glued on.(Sometimes you will get lucky, and the letters peel right off.) Soaking a bit alcohol on the back of where the letters are sewn, I'll wait a few minutes and see if that loosens them up and lets me peel the letters. I then move up the chain if alcohol doesn't work. Wait and let the solvents do their magic.Usually one of these works, and I can peel the letters. If the letters are still stuck, that's when I use the spot cleaning gun, shooting the letters on the back side. This is the ultimate solution, but I don't often have to resort to this. (I should make and post some videos. Over the years I've developed some hacks for letter removal, stain removal and cleaning, and silk screening.) Don't hesitate to ask more questions, especially if I haven't been clear.

I would have left the number for a while. You never know who will be rocking that number in the future! I was going to do the same to my Sabres' cap. It has Eichel's autograph and number stitched in. I did it with a knife to a jacket with my company logo embroidered in to it, worked out well. So who are you gonna put there? VO? 😜 Or you coulda just taken off the name plate and worn it upside down as a Schoenfeld jersey!

Stuck my neck out again. Beside #26, I got 25, 24, 72 and 89. I've been a Buffalo hockey fan since the Pepsi bottle cap days. (And the Bills AFL championship days.) I'm all in on this effort. Not sure I'll be around for another reset. Go Bills. Go Sabres. PS, I think 24 and 89 will be here the longest.

I m 63, but in good shape, 6 foot 1 180 pounds and taught Kempo for a few years and did good with the belt game (I call it a game, they are giving black belts to 14 years old I mean come on!) what do you think, me and you versus 4 Sabres?
