Finally resurrected the old ipad that’s been out of action for about 5 years. It’s never as easy as it looks... some of those connections are smaller than I can see!... but got there in the end. Thanks!

Thank you for this, I'm going to try this on my old iPad3 that I gave to my 87 yr old mom to play games but now won't hold a charge even when plugged in. This is a cheaper alternative to buying a new tablet that honestly are too much for her use.

Battery in mine swelled up, so in an emergency effort to get the battery out of the house and save the data I tried my hand at this! Took me close to 3 hours including hunting for makeshift tools but got the battery out safely in one piece for disposal. Ordering a new one and can’t wait to see if it still works! I have a few doubts lol

Thank You! I bought the iFixit kit with battery, and I'm going to try this tomorrow. My battery swelled up, so part of the glass is already coming off. Everything works so far, so its a swollen battery.

It is because you damaged the ribbon cable to the digitizer.... this video was missing a lot of important information with regards to removing the glass screen there are a lot of areas you have to be careful when prying up the screen or you will damage the ribbon cable or the Wi-Fi antenna or other parts. There are other better KZbin videos that show you what to be careful of..... in much greater detail.
