Thank you. Looks like KZbin algorithm completely stopped reponding to content like this.

You did great, you don't have to improve anything even with those camera changes that I thought were great, that will guide me from your video to place 2.7 on my Mac Pro

I will just add, what a great video for upgrading CPU, I have enjoyed it much in many details, thank you 🙂

Here are a few Pro tips. 1) When disassembling the late 2013 Mac Pro always wear gloves. Finger oil is not good for the components. 2) Take note of the orientation of the CPU before removing it. This is where video or pictures can be helpful. 3) I no longer use thermal paste in 2024. Use thermal pads they last 10+ years & do not dry out. Just to give a little context of what I do in my professional role at AMD. Im a hardware & software engineer at AMD. Ive also worked at Nvidia for 2.5 year before leaving and going to AMD. KryoSheet graphene thermal pads are an excellent alternative for thermal pastes and have a conformable surface with very high thermal conductivity. This is what I have extensively on both AMD CPUs & GPUs.

Hi,Thanks,Great Job!,Ive been watching all the cpu upgrades before i do mine....Im going from the 12 core 2.7ghz, to the 3.7ghz e5 v2 1660..921 geekbench 5 single core score, the 12 core single core score is 751 on my can.the 2.7 is just a little to slow, switching from utube, to facebook,etc...i liked how you explained the thermo paste, and not moving the cpu,when your putting the 4 screws back in,, and you slid it in the table, so it wouldnt move,, all remember that trick, im going to buy the magnet board,for the screws,I just upgraded the nvme to the samsung 970 pro 1tb,its ginna fly with the 3.7 6 core,not the stock 3.5 ghz cpu,that came in the 2013 mac pro

im not worried about multi core score.this cpu 3.7ghz 1660 scored the 2nd highest ever,blender score,for a 6 core cpu, when i read that, i knew this was the best 1....4 ghz turbo.....unlocked multiplier to boot!.The sweet spot on the trash can,i don,t edit,final cut pro etc...i want speed!.with 64 gbs of memory, the 3.7 ghz 1660 is going to run exellent, with the fire pro 700 gpu, not the 300 gpu

My black magic speed results right now, with the 12 core 970 pro 1tb ssd are 1329 write, 1420 read.its going to be fun to run this test with the 1660 gpu 3.7 ghz..Hoping to see 1505 read, 1540 maybe?
@stephencawker15659 ай бұрын
1600 is max in the trash can,the fastest i saw was 1599 read, i couldn,t beleieve it!..it was a mac 5.1 tower, with 2 3.45 ghz 6 core cpus, with a 1 tb samsung evo, not evo plus....as fast as possible lol....

When you evenly spread the the thermal paste without allowing the cpu to squeeze it into place you risk getting air pockets and dry spots fyi. Watch a glass cooler thermal paste video.

I highly recommed the samsung 970 evo,2tb for the trash can guys!.not the evo plus.for some reason, the 970 evo,hits 1500 read on the trash can.its a little more old school, and the trash can is really fast with this nvme ssd upgrade, with sintech adaptor, ive tryed about 4 ssds so far...but not the 970 evo yet,im wondering if its faster then my 970 pro...

I wanted to watch this video but the constant refocussing killed it for me. Please just lock the focus!

great video, only thing I suggest and take this lightly, while working on hardware neve wear a sweater, that's the fastest way to zap out hardware with static erlectric. trust me I learned the hard way many years ago. also Thanks your video helped me decide on getting a garbage can to fix up to meet my needs.

Thanks for the video. I iike they way you discuss details about what you're doing. I recently picked up a trash can; it already has the 12 core cpu but I want to repaste it and the gpus. I was hoping you would have repasted the gpus also but I guess not. I'm sure I'll find your attention to details helpful.

I did this and added 64gb of ram for less than 100$. It is also a good idea to clean off and add new thermal paste on the gpus. It looks harder than it is to do, I thought it was an easy job.
