@@Oneupthesleevecustoms from seeing quite a bit of these Milwaukee batteries i can tell you that the board has a faulty design it tends to deplete the first roll of cells where the test display panel, then second rolls the oldest xc to the newer one uses the same design, not sure why they don’t take the time to fix this issue.
@mikemorgan50153 жыл бұрын
Not sure if it's still true with newer chemistry and manufacturing techniques, but not long ago, the mid/low capacity cells were just more robust and could take the punishment of high discharge/charge rates and keep on ticking. Don't know if it was because the thinner tighter packed high capacity membranes were thinner and more fragile or what. Have they figured it out? I finally had some packs fail on me, all had 3ah 18650 cells. Two were 9ah M18s with consecutive serial numbers(same plant, same date of mfgr) and one M12 3ah.

So not Milwaukee but I have 2 AEG 6AH pro (the older non force) batteries which got so horribly out of balance i was utterly amazed. But in both of them, it was a single cell pair managing to charge up faster than the rest. The worst one was at 3.57v, 4.17v, 3.55v, 3.57v, 3.68v. I ended up using the guts of a old USB powerbank and soldering it onto each pair then manually charging them up with that. After doing that the packs have worked flawlessly for few months now. Makes me think the cells were never properly matched in the factory and just got worse and worse over time. I have a good 20ish AEG batteries, some 2Ah, 2.5AH, 5AH, 6AH and all have been used in the same tools and chargers so i dont think it was anything i had done

How many of these 12aH have I seen like this?....lost count. The reason this is occurring is that 1 or more of the parallel 3 cells self discharges slowly and pulls the other parallel ones down in voltage. Like the 3aH 30Q these cells have a significant problem with self discharge. Basically they are faulty when they self discharge like that. Charging them up will fix the problem for a while but eventually will repeat the problem. I disconnect the parallel cells after charging them and then see which one drops voltage after a few weeks, then I replace that cell using my quick method in one of my videos.

my new tip is the use and abuse the cells while under warrenty as they may fail at some point even if you treat them great
@yolo_burrito Жыл бұрын
In my opinion DeWalt packs are superior because the board in the pack is just a thermal/low voltage cutout (also tells the charger how many amps it can handle) and all the balancing is done in the charger body. In the Milwaukee the balancing is done in the pack which is subject to much more abuse.

Milwaukee’s M12 and M18 battery systems are widely criticized for issues like battery failure, compatibility issues across tools and chargers, complicated troubleshooting, and battery warranties much shorter than their tool warranties. Considering how complicated and potentially dangerous the fixes are, it’s unsurprising Milwaukee plays dumb and lets these complicated and potentially dangerous fixes pile up on KZbin. Will you trust Milwaukee when you buy your next tool or battery?

6.0 high output batteries have Samsung 30T cells which will discharge more amperage than the Samsung 40Ts in the 8.0 and the 12.0. The 6.0 will give the tools more power than the 8.0 and nearly as much as the 12.0. For whatever reason, I have had much better luck with the 6.0. Both my 8.0 and 12.0 have dropped cells while my 6.0s are still going strong. I think that the 30T is just a more robust cell than the 40T.

A BMS that doesn't use capacitor banks to balance charge has a very small ability to adjust for variance between Series cells. The voltage range where balance charge & voltage cutoff is limited, too. Your two examples both failing in the 3rd of 5 series sections tells me there's a flaw in the BMS design that doesn't properly manage balance charging and/or low voltage cutoff. That tells me any balance charging is minimal, and most of it is occurring by parasitic drain from charged cells to undercharged cells internal to the pack (not through the charger). That's really disappointing, especially considering how incredibly expensive Milwaukee battery packs are - 15 Samsung INR21700 40T cells can be purchased wholesale for as little as $60. I'd almost rather build my own packs using a 3D printer to fab the housing, and buy or build my own BMS. It would be less than half the cost of the 12ah for the same components (minus the Milwaukee sense/communication feature).
