Saving hype stickers on vinyl record sleeves

Actually those stickers can be relatively easily peeled off the shrink wrap even without heating. I put them on the inner-sleeve.

To this day, I've actually saved all of the hype stickers I've gotten and I keep them in a specific folder. When I have enough, I'm going to get a huge frame and make a giant hype sticker collage to display with the rest of my records!

I honestly didn't know these were called hype stickers. I always try to save these too! My spot is the inner-sleeve, in about the same position as where it was on the cover. If it's a colored inner sleeve, or in some way a special one, I stick it onto a postcard as a sort of stamp, write down some info about the purchase date / location for good measure, and put that inside with the record. I thought about stickerbombing my turntable covers with these, but since it's way more fun to just slap artist / label specific stickers on there (usually even good vinyl stickers) (and thus, they're both full already, even on the inside), it's not worth it to put these on. Yea, I do keep the stickers if they have worthwhile stuff on it... but I just cut around the sticker and then slide it in the sleeve. I'm not sure I'd go about removing it and re-sticking it to a protective sleeve, but I can see why some might like to do that.

Many come off fairly easily before cutting the shrink, yet for those stubborn paper ones, I’ll begin using this great tip. Usually I have a hard time wanting to return them to the front after placing the album in a new outer so i often place them near the bar code which is often at the bottom on back. Wherever it fits best amidst whatever is on the back cover.

Damn... I've finally found the workaround here! 🙌🏼 I've been doing some research on how to do this for a while to no avail... 'till now! I'll start testing this on my bluray's plastic wrap and then move on to my newly acquired vinyl records! Thanks for sharing!

I have always saved them, as far back as the 8Os. I tend cut them and throw them inside the sleeve. If I can peel em off without ripping them I stick them on my outer sleeve like you did on the video.

If ever you decide to go the route of keeping the hype stickers and before you even buy the outer vinyl sleeves, NEVER make the mistake of rushing and putting the stock stickers right onto the vinyl cover itself!! I learned this the hard way with my first record that I bought back in December and as I was peeling off the main stock sticker that said the artists name and the name of the record, The album art itself started peeling badly along with me trying to peel away and get the hype sticker off before I could even get it onto the clear protective sleeve. I decided to just leave the stock sticker onto the record before any further damage happened to the album art. I have no issue with rebuying the record but it was something that could have been clearly avoided on my end.

I always save the hype stickers as well. If I can get them off the cellophane I put them on the inner sleeve. If the record doesnt come with a poly sleeve I always replace them so they have one and the Hype Sticker gets Centered at the top of the sleeve. If I cant unpeel the sticker it gets cut out and is stored in the Record Jacket with the insert.

As of my comment 145:0 ratio. I'm new to vinyl and received two Barnes & Noble exclusives last week. Both had hype stickers which I quickly threw out with the cellophane. I also do the same with the included inner sleeves and replace them, but after seeing this video in my suggestions I may start saving such with them. They add to the history and story of each record.

Usually I can remove the stickers from the transparent film without major problems because the adhesive is never too strong. The stickers that I manage to remove I attach them inside the pocket that houses the vinyl envelope, if I attached them to the external PVC envelope they would be ruined by dint of extracting the disk from the library because they would cause friction against the other envelopes. If I notice that the adhesive opposes too much resistance, I also try to heat it and usually it succeeds but some don't. In these cases I prefer to cut the transparent film quite close to the edge of the sticker and leave it like this, then I insert it inside the compartment that houses the vinyl envelope. Thank you ! I was looking for a solution for this problem. Online difference: I put the opening on the right side in stead of on the upper side, so I can take the record out without removing the sleeve 😉👍

Yes, it works for me. Note, do not too hot with the temperature / fire. Just a little fire is enough.

I only do the first part of your video: cut it out. I then put it inside the sleeve or jewel case. When you stick it onto the outside of your protective sleeve or jewel case, it'll wear. And if you ever want to replace the sleeve or case you need to take it off again (which can become more difficult after a while).

I always use lighter fluid to remove hype sticker. Such fluids are alcohol base so they just vapor off.

I didn't know that the stickers that are on the album that have words are actually called Hype Stickers. I want to do this but with my CD's but I want to keep them on a surface after removing them from the cellophane. My mind keeps thinking of parchment paper for some reason but I don't know honestly if that'll be the solution I want
