Glad to hear the WWF is helping the Ranchers stay on the land. The Sandhills is one of the most amazing ecosystems in this country if not the world. The Prairie Chickens, Meadowlarks, Soapweeds, among other species make it one of my favorite places. Good luck to the Switzers.

Great video! It's great to see rancher/conservationists staying on the land. The one question I have is whether they use prescribed fire on the Switzer ranch. I know that fire is largely taboo in the Sandhills but perhaps WWF can work with other NGOs to support fire infrastructure and encourage burning for the health of the prairie. The statement about grazers on the landscape being essential is true; the key though is that grazers historically followed fires. They grazed prolifically on the freshly burned areas for the high quality nutritious forage that the fresh green grass provides. If WWF is going to support historic ecosystem processes it would be worthwhile to support fire on the landscape.

The Nature conservancy uses fire on their Sandhills ranch north of Johnston Nebraska on the Niobrara river.

Beautiful statement about life and living. Perhaps "deplorables'" as Hillary once said, but given the choice, I would choose this life over ten lives in the cities. God bless 'em all. Real America.
