It works most of the games. For example i continued before this video and got to January with the same formation. There is 3rd striker that was injured maybe when I send this who looks amazing it just was further down in the picking order. I get a lot of goals from the 2 mezzallas and the wingers but not nearly as many from the striker. The problem is I end hitting a bad run of form in the league. Had 4 losses in a row. Then I'm back and so on.

@@iulian-mariustordea8359 mid season fatigue might be causing that too. Or check the analysis tab and see if you are particularly weak against certain formations. From what I have seen if the AI finds out that you're weak against a certain tactic, they basically adopt it en masse against you

I normally have set up a tactic with very few team instructions, the few instructions i give is to set a general playstyle i want my team to play. A lot of the instructions i use during gameplay and i really think focus play shouldn´t be ticked from the beginning but is a good tool if you need to break a team. I don´t understand why people need to over complicate stuff like this. Even in real life football i am an advocate for this approach because i think a team is easy to shut down if they aren´t flexible enough in their setup. I hate managers that just have a Plan A and never change stuff even if the opponents figured everything out

Yes it was a broken tactic in past fms. Workings through the middle while having wingers or wide oriented minded players exploited one of the match engine's "bugs"(don't know if it's an actual bug ) and during highlights basically there will always be a mega overload either in the middle or on the wings. In this case with the IW on the right he wanted the overload on the left wing and the central overload with mezzalas and fb on support on the far right offensive line.

Just like to add to the first one. If the release clause is set in contract 2mil and he's wanted, if u don't have budget for new contract without release clause offer him out to the teams that want him for 1.9 mil with a 50% sell on clause. I had a player on a free in fm20 PSG were interested so knew he would leave. So sold him for 2.1 mil+ 50% 100k under release clause long story short 7 years later he was sold for 130 mil. 65 for me for a free transfer who only played 7 times. He was a wonderkid. The 50% Sell on clause is a must. I missed out on 20 mil for Arezo as I just allowed him to leave for his release clause. You will lose talented youngster at the beginning of these saves but it's a Marathon not a sprint.

Counter point, the players I sell basically flop all the time in their next club getting released consistently instead of being sold for good money. Idk wtf is going on but I have started not to care about the sell on clause because of that experience

As a Union Berlin Legend all I’m gonna say is MATIAS AREZO, sold him to Bayern for 62 million at 20, bought him back at 23 for 21 mil, went on to score 198 bundesliga goals in 223 games became a legendary striker won us the League 3 times the champions league twice and 5 DFB Pokal.

One thing that helped me getting healthy financially in a lower league that doesn‘t pay out much money without selling everyone, is friendlies. I sceduled friendlies every week it was possible. Obviously i would only choose to play matches which would make me some cash. And like that i managed to make around half a million Euros in one season. I only played the U19‘s and players i had on trial in those games. And that was completely fine. I still got decent player developement and it did some young players a solid. Also it was Good for getting players to learn new positions. Just a win win way to make some money in this game.

This makes me remember the one time I poached a japanese wonderkid, dude had killer attributes, season after season scored 25+ goals, always was between the top 3 goal scorers, but no club made offers to him and the Japanese National Team never called him. Like, my guess for the former is that he had such a meteoric rise to glory that he went from nobody to too expensive for any club to afford in a extremely short amount of time, which... Alright I guess, but the latter still bugs me to this day. Like, c'mon Japan, you have this 18 year old beast of an attacking midfielder being amongst the top 3 goal scorers in the French League and you call the aging Shinji Kagawa over him?

“Union is secure” from having played them in FM19 I know for a fact that they are secure because of investments from their board and not from their gate receipts. Belgium is definitely a league with big wage expenditures relative to actual club incomes, unless you are getting regular Champions League money you will struggle for cash in Belgium

@@James-de2hp I have an fm20 save as Genk, focused on U18 recruitment and development from the academy. The Belgium league has a final playoff round among the top teams that halves the point totals, so it makes it a LOT harder to coast through the final games off a large point gap in the league. Rules are really forgiving and citizenship is relatively quick. Definitely recommend any Belgium start!

@@williamcross210 funnily enough I managed to get the affiliation with Brighton reversed since I was getting CL football and Brighton got relegated to the championship. Though the best season I had in that save was my first season as USG, had a completely invincible season winning the pro league B(fm2019 remember) and the Belgian cup. A truly invincible season. Damn I just managed to win the Champions League in 2025 with USG, slapped Manchester United 2-0 in the final(even with my star striker missing a pen lol), meanwhile I lost the Belgian cup final just 2 weeks before that CL final lmao

For the first save, I'd probably sell Bollen for around £4-5m with a 50% next sale gain clause. That'll bring in around £15-20m in a year or two when one of the big boys realises he's a gem after either Dortmund or Sevilla have signed him

That is so important, most people are angry because they cant get much money from a sale (reputation etc) but if you have a gem, bring in a sell on clause. I had to sell an absolute wonderkid for 15 mil, at Olympique he was worth 80 mil instantly, they sold him on for over 100 mil and i got a big share of it.

I interviewed for a job at French club in National League, that was in terrible shape financially. I was offered a $0 wage budget! Unfortunately I asked for an increased budget and, because of that, didn’t get the job. I would have loved to see how the club copesd with a zero wage budget, so pretty bummed I didn’t get to find out.

I played 3 upfront in a save and it worked really well! It was a 3-4-3 mainly dictated by the players I found…even my LM and RM were converted strikers! Consistently got over 100+ goals from my forwards so the rest of the team only had to defend reasonably well for me to win

I can't even use 2 strikers in my save because i concede many goals with it I lost the champions league semi finals by trying to innovate and use 2 strikers at home and got scored 2 goals in 30 minutes 🥲 Maybe my other players are trash, who knows

Tips for keeping finances decent- Get loanees for 0 wages or low % of their wages, these are better as rotation players though, you want your core ideally to be contracted players who have some room for improvement Don't give big appearance fees or bench fees, instead swap them with performance bonuses such as goals, assists, clean sheets Use sell on fee percentages when negotiating for players that you probably wont ever sell, EG. if you get someone whos 29+ for 1 or 2 season, they can be given 50% sell on fee in their contract, this will get their wages down Dont have coaches or scouts etc that earn too much money Pre-season, try and play away games against the teams who will give you the biggest fee Get rid of deadwood, fast. Even if it means offering them out for 0. get them off your wages, failing that loan them out and try and recoup some of the wages Release most of your youth intake... controversial BUT most of your intake is usually terrible, just keep the best ones and release the rest, if you're paying 20 youths 150pw in english lower leagues, this is 3k per week you're spending on a bunch of players that will never do anything, you could use that 3k to get a few first team players.. And for me most important, DO NOT HAVE A LARGE SQUAD. this wastes wages, increases training work loads and increases the chance you will have unhappy players because well, the more players you have, the more players will not be getting game time...

On the RCF Liège save, that's mostly down to SI games not putting any effort into the Belgian League/Nation (for a couple of years now). The whole financial situation is non-existent (certainly feels like they haven't bothered checking anything up) and it gets even worse going one or two leagues lower. Not that Belgium should be an easy league... but the financial situation is played out worse than it should. Probably exacerbated by to the poor income from attendance and rather slow/unrealistic attendance growth/drop. In all honesty you're better of playing most other leagues or tweak the league to be a bit more closer to realism.

It's not impossible to make a 3 striker formation work, I've managed a league and UCL using one and a couple of league cups in the few seasons I used it before changing. I did have 2 world class strikers and a good 17 year old up top and a solid defence with good depth to make up for the lack of bodies further back which is something a second division team can normally say

3 striker formations can absolutely work. False 9 and a DLF flanking an AF is fine. Especially if you tell the wide forwards to mark the fullbacks. But not the kind of 3 forward system he was running. That tactic was a FM18 exploit tactic. It got crushed years ago.

Im still on fm16 but what i do if a club is in debt is sign high value free agents/pre contracts and keep them out the team from summer to winter window. They get pissy due to lack of football and sell for value/slightly under it in January. Profit every year.

You should be able to negotiate up if the player is legit good. The value is partly determined by league but you should easily be able to negotiate offers up. Your doing something wrong

Don’t worry about finances. The AI is programmed to always unfortunately bail you out. Wether that is from cash injections, takeover’s or inflated, random and illogical offers for average players. I have been on the same position financially many times over the years and it’s always the same. On my current save I’ve just received a bizarre £7m bid from AC Milan for a very average 18yo that doesn’t even make the starting 11 in the youth team.
