My guess, driving it unfit (you decide on how) invalidated any insurance. Someone they know bought it off them to repair, had a few five-finger discount parts available already, realised the other parts were too expensive/on back order, cut their losses after quick bodge and flung through copart. You got lucky that it wasn't worse accident damage.

I wouldn't touch this car with a 10 feet pole. 2500 quid won't get you anywhere unless you spend a lot of time finding good salvage part. It needs the cowling and the windscreen which you did not mention but that are obviously busted. Since you will need to redo the paintwork, I'd buy new salvage body parts as well. Those TangtongLingLong parts are made of thinner, lesser quality steel and will rust a lot quicker. But I'm looking forward to see you getting her restored to her former glory. Please do check all ECUs to double check the vehicle identity. Tires seem a bit worse for wear for 5k miles!

Clearly the thing has been absolutely thrashed from day 1 which hurts my feelings.... Just the thought of some jailbait yobbo driving that car would be too painful, all those max revs take offs from cold and I bet it stinks of fags and/or weed. I was a professional panel beater for 30 years and seen all the tricks they get up to😅 I always examined a vehicle in person, one car I went to buy was hit in the o/s/f and didn’t look too bad, that is until I saw the kink in the roof above the b pillar, The slimy fits had only chained it to a post and reversed it back to yank out the worst of the chassis damage to “make it look better “ than it was🙄 I told them “you’ve ruined that f**king car by doing that!!!, I told them any professional beater will see it a mile off!!

Agree with others. Check the airbags! There is definitely a large amount of BOJ going on there. As for parts. Forget the pattern part, no matter how good it fits. It’s a year old car, get genuine used. Would definitely advise ensuring that it is 100% straight. You can’t tell the miles from the tyres.. you don’t know how the cars been driven to make them like that. I would agree with others, it’s definitely a strange one and possibly (Not wishing to cast aspersions lol) some kind of uninsured or under the influence of something. Would be interesting to k ow of it was privately owned or company owned though? As for Coparts evaluations forget it… I bought a car that was sold as an auto and it was a Manual… coparts response to my complaint was “our staff are not mechanically trained” do it right and it will be a lovely car and well worth what you paid.

That damage to the nearside rear of the bonnet set the alarm bells off for me. The offside area of bonnet may contain a lot of filler, slapped on over cracked paint and rust. VW rust resistance is very good, but once it is compromised it is useless. A repair to factory spec could eat a lot of money.
@mjrams

@@wilsjaneTotally agree, thought I could see rust there already. With paintwork that shabby the imperfections below can almost become more hidden.
@wilsjane
@wilsjane Жыл бұрын
@@mjrams With the bodywork in that state, you also have to ask yourself about the rest of the car and whether the mechanics had been thrashed and incorrect cheap oils used. VW cars last for years if treated correctly, so an older well maintained car would be better value for money. My last 3 golf TDI's each covered around 250,000 miles and almost 20 years with no major problems. The one I drove managed 285,000 on it's original clutch, despite a lot of driving in London traffic. Having the older AHU engine, I went to full clutch before touching the throttle. Needless to say, I owned it from new.

Could be a company car bought for cash, but most company insurance policies have huge upfront excess values, thus sometimes it's easier/cheaper to bodge a cosmetic repair and push it through an auction, than to make an insurance claim where much of the claim value would be swallowed up by the excess, and what's left is not worth the hike in premiums... Might also explain why the vehicle does not have outstanding finance issues...

I have owned VW cars for a while now. The cars are great and require little maintenance. But once they are over 10 years and parts need replacing, I got the full experience of having to deal with VW dealership garages. Replacing two worn engine bits was estimated at £3000. The car stopped running properly and there was no choice but to replace the parts. So, I went to my friendly local garage and paid £600. Same job, different price. That may be why the owner of your T-Roc preferred to sell the car at such a discount. VW cars aren't luxury until you want the VW garage to repair one. Then it's definitely luxury pricing.

Slipped off road and gone into something not too serious. Easy repair but more expensive than you imagine! 4000 all in as if need oem lights oem wing bonnet respray to good standard

Steering angle sensor basic setting should be done stationary. all the way left and hold, then all the way right and hold then back to the centre. There’s an ongoing TPI for all VW models with ACC/travel assist and it is the steering wheel at fault so you may find that is an issue when other issues are sorted.

love the colour. seems a weird one that you can easily make money on as long as its not been tampered with and still to show its real issues, but i think thats unlikely. its just not been looked after right and they gave up on it after a slight bump. very strange but ive heard of this happening, lack of knowledge maybe. maybe didnt want their insurance to go up so they have hidden it. who knows but potential is there for profit. good luck with it

@@SavingSalvage Copart can be strange as like you say you think that someone's insurance would of claimed but had my fair share off there like this. Worst one was a 3 year old Rs6 no keys stolen recovered small sent in wheel arch. Got it back ordered let's got that sorted, the horrors started when I noticed header tank disconnected with a bung in pipe to keep red antifreeze in bottle as none in engine.... Headlights had water in, engine full of water, was floood damaged. Hadn't run so saved engine with minor strip down but knackered turbos as rusty. Car was never quite right lol Always wondered why they never claimed? Instead probably chucked keys and said stolen recovered.

The amount of corrosion is excessive for the vehicle's age. We see that a lot where I live and it's due to salt air corrosion. If anything else you find is due to corrosion, it'll be everywhere. This tends not to be much of a problem if you're 4 or more streets from the ocean. It also affects the external HVAC units, solar panels - pretty much anything iron or steel. The flipside is that we have uninterrupted beach/ocean views and a 50 metre walk to be in the water. I wish you well with fixing it up.

the whole front needs to be painted, new tires, new windshield, plus all the other parts and labor , the whole thing will take easily 6-7 grand to be on the road as it should be, so yes you save some if the market value is 30 grand, but not treally worth the trouble.

I bought a 2021 diesel clio from copart, as usual copart did not viewing, it had very minor panel damage, but it was the damage from a previous crash that was the problem, it must of had a side impactwhere the sill and B post were pushed in, to pull it out they sliced one metre of the floor, then to fill the floor gap a piece of tin was stuck on and sprayed with underseal. Instead of fixing it I broke it. I now buy elsewhere, viewing is not a problem and they are very quick to help with any problems found, which is very rare. and best of all fees are very reasonable.

Great video, like the concept of finding out issues with you, I think this has been damaged on private land or maybe the driver wasn't in the right state to be driving and going to insurance wasn't a option so they tried to fix it cheap and move it on, Sorry to say i think there will be more costs involved to get this 100% my guess £4800 sorry

Get it in the air and check the suspension in that corner cause no doubt it would have had some impact on the wheel, did they replace the parts? Check the airbags also as it would have set them off.

As always very interesting! When i first saw all that mud, dirt and corrossion i must say i thought water damage.... Maybe still do. Including the windscreen and cowl its goto be £3,600 or more doesn't it?. Plus a possible steering sensor or rack issue. Plus front radar replace and or set up. I hope you dont find anything else too major. That tyre does look out of wack, i suppose as someone else pointed out, maybe that wheel was a salvage replacement itself given damaged side. Comparrison with other wheels tyres may explain. Still seems like you will recover the money. Hope it doesnt have extensive water damage.

Suspect no insurance company involved post accident since not recorded. Not happy with pattern wing on a car this new - better to go for good used original parts if you can find them. Recommend a good close look at the rest of the car - the replacement battery (on a car this new) and corroded terminals also suggest a story. Might even be worth a discrete chat with Plod.

ACC on a VW requires dealer level support as you need the grid screen to which the sensors are aligned and the laptop to do it, but one thing I would say if the bumper is a bad fit then the parking sensors or the radar unit behind the VW badge can also effect that because a straight bumper replacement on the vehicle without being adapted will throw that error up. That vehicle is a bodge job and sold on, the funny thing is that if HPI have no data for it as a crash victim then the owner paid for that work ( accounts for the poor quality ) and they then shoved it out in to the trade to recoup their losses on it.

I’m guessing it was a winter registered car looking at corrosion, anomaly with insurance, likely purchased on a monthly instalment plan and paid no more after first instalment, car has been ragged around and crashed, bodged up repair and car was px’d at a great loss. Likely been sitting around in a compound for six months or so!

Check the oil for water check the air filter hoses for sludge from water debris. The battery terminals are corroded more because of the voltage being live when the battery became submerged. The white power is dist and calcium fom the water as it dried. I can help if you need me. Pete Edit: oh and the damage probably happened while the car was unoccupied. It's also a possibility that the owner wasn't insured for "acts of god" and had to bodge a repair on their previously financed motor. (Which they paid off)
