Chef Tom, thank you so much for finally doing a savory bean recipe. My wife and I love beans with our barbecue but like you we aren’t big fans of the sweet. I am doing these this weekend! Thank you!

Chef Tom, can you do an episode about the different type of wood pellets there are, which types go best with different types of meat, etc. , care/storage of them. Basically a “all things wood pellets” video?

Fantastic. I smoked mine over applewood and pecan for 12 hours. I use spare rib ends and a little Barq’s root beer, tomato paste, molasses, and occasionally apple juice and apple cider (not vinegar).

Wonderful. I love good bbq baked beans. Not all bbq beans are created equally though. These ones however look far superior to all I've seen. Great recipe.❤✌🏼 Thank You.

For the win again! Made this alongside a chuck roast I ruined. Didn't have any brisket trim on hand, so I smoked some salt pork instead. I also went ahead with one jalepeno, a serrano, and one hatch chili pepper. It was perfectly spicy--not too much and adding BBQ sauce really helped take the heat down (if it was too spicy).

How is this 2yrs old and I’ve never seen it. Looks amazing. Sort of a bbq version of Mexican charro beans. Like others have said, the wife and I don’t really like sweet bbq beans. One question. After everything is in the pot and you’ve cooked them a while could you use some of the original bean juice that you drained off instead of plain water? Just seems like the water would have some flavor to add.
@allthingsbbq Жыл бұрын
Where have you been?!! There's nothing wrong with using the water from the soak. The consensus is that it won't likely impact the flavor much simply because of all the flavors going on. Thanks for the great question and thanks for watching!

Word of advice, you don't need to sweeten your beans. Sweet beans are honestly more of an American thing. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying not everybody sweetens their beans. I love your videos though, and I look forward to watching more of your work. I have definitely learned a lot from watching your videos

Next time save the bean water you initially cooked the beans in and use that to rehydrate your beans as you go.
