2:48 is the vegetable oil required? I tend to stay away from oils. At the very least, would avocado oil work?
@SavorySaver Жыл бұрын
The oil is going to make the dough more manageable. You can try using no oil or avocado oil but I am not sure whats the results will be.

If it’s going to be a hot pie, would I still cook the crust first? Or put everything in together for the baking?
@SavorySaver Жыл бұрын
For a hot pie, I would try either by adding your filling as with a tradition pie or try baking the pie crust separately for about 10 minutes at 350F just to start the baking process and help the crust set. Then add your pie filling of choice and bake the pie as directed on your recipe. I hope this helps and thank you for watching!

Hi Jamie - great job on the oats flour pie crust recipe - do you have almond flour gluten-free pie crust? Thank you for your reply.
@SavorySaver2 жыл бұрын
While I don't have a recipe that is made totally from almond flour, I do have a video for a pie crust using both gluten free baking mix and almond flour in the recipe. Check out my gluten free pie crust playlist for that recipe. Thank you so much for your interest. I'll keep my eyes out for a good almond flour crust!

Can I use this method to make a hand pie?
@SavorySaver Жыл бұрын
I think it would be worth trying out but you may find you need to tweak the recipe or do some problem solving on the end result to get it to work. Try cutting the recipe in half or maybe even into a 1/4 of the recipe as a test run to see how it works for you. Then you won't feel like you've wasted a lot of ingredients if it doesn't work out well the first go around. I hope this helps and thank you for watching!

is the texture similar to normal pie crust
@SavorySaver Жыл бұрын
It's not as flaky as a traditional pie crust. Thank you so much for watching!
@bbyn Жыл бұрын
Ok I tried it for the bottom and top crust using 4c oat flour, a little over 1/2c butter ~1/2 c oil. The taste is different but good in its own way I think using full butter would give it a more (still hearty) pie taste. Also had to add a little bit of all purpose flr to lay on the top crust because it had zero structure but extra oat flr might be fine, When cooled its has the perfect crumble, but yeah not that flaky which it fine. I'll probably try half oat half wheat this seems like a great sububstitue to avoid over gluten in wheat flour pie crust, thank you for the recipe

yes thank U it did .. Cos I want to try it would I be able to double it to make 2 for a double pie crust or no .And if I use it for unbaked pies do I use it like I'm baking regular pie crust ??
@SavorySaver3 жыл бұрын
Yes, double the ingredients for a double crust. I’m not sure how it will work out. If you try it you’ll have to let me know how it does. For unbaked pies like a pudding pie bake your crust as I did in the video. For a cooked pie l, like a pumpkin pie, bake the pie and crust together

Thank you for watching. People in America still bake using both weight and volume. While I try to often mention or list both measurements when available, individuals may need to adjust the recipes to best suit their gluten free and cooking needs.
