If you get a "Vtx is not available" error while booting a virtual machine that just means that your BIOS doesn't have virtualization enabled for the system. You'll need to research the option to enable it in your BIOS and it's usually called something like "Hypervisor Support" in the BIOS settings.

@Michael Cowman - No problem, I'm glad I could make it a little easier to use/understand. That was the main goal with this video. I'm planning on creating a small series using VirtualBox. In the series, I'm going to show people how to install various different types of Linux distros. The plan atm is to install Kali, Debian, Manjaro, MX Linux, Ubuntu, and some of the more popular distros. Hopefully, it'll help the people who don't want to devote their physical setup to linux, but want to give it a try =)

For some reason I can only Headless Start my VM's. I've sent hours watch videos and reading but the Normal Start just won't work after many setting changes and restarts? Btw I'm using Windows 10 (Dell Laptop) and VB version 6.1. If anybody has any suggestions, I would appreciated it. Other than that I have installed Ubuntu Gnome 20.04 and is a great way to learn GNU/Linux. Thanks for the video SavvyNik.

@Tax Action - Great to hear you have Linux installed and running now and no problem!! Glad I could help. Not sure why you can't do anything else besides headless start.. no errors? Nothing? I did have one weird thing happen to me before on VBox, all I did was reinstall a newer version and it fixed itself so maybe it wouldn't be crazy to try reinstalling or perhaps upgrading. You can just export or not delete your VMs and they will be there after the reinstall. (I think it gives you the option to delete them during the uninstall just say no).

When you try to choose a virtual disk file it isn’t there what do I do?

@Heena Patel - Usually if you're creating a new VM you'll need to create a new virtual disk not select one.

Is this recommended for older games lik Deer Hunter 3 which came out in 2000. I try to run it in win 10 and it just dont want to run right. I tryed all kinds of setting both nvidia and in game. I know my system can run it. SPECS i7 2700k + gtx 1050 ti + 16 gb ram + ssd. What window should I install on VB? 98, ME or XP? Any help thanks.

That's a decent computer. You should be capable of running the game in your VM. Usually, it's not suggested to run games in a VM bc it's one extra layer your game will have to get through in order to talk to the hardware, but in this case your not running anything resource intensive. Here's the one issue tho.. some game devs block you from using their games on a VM. This is because it's real easy to spawn off a bunch of instances and potentially cheat. Also there's checks to see if an actual graphics controller exists on the machine. Maybe you've ran into this issue instead. There are ways to spoof the virtual graphics card. Finally, I'd go with Win7.

It is not working . when ever I want to import my ISO file what I get is an empty folder it doesn't show the file . but when ever I go to my explore the file is there why this

You do not "import" an ISO you need to use the ISO as a disk to install your choice of an operating system on to a virtual machine that you create in vbox. Is there a specific operating system you are trying to install?

@@SavvyNik Kali Linux .. ; when ever I want to put in the ISO file it display empty folder ,for me but if I go through my explore the file is there but through the vm it didn't show my ISO file it is really completed for me

sorry for the stupid question, but im kinda too careful when downloading new things on my laptop. why is there a ''do you want to install this firmware?'' message appearing? it didn't appear for you. which is kinda weird.

Virtualbox has a really nice fatures but the 3d acceleration and performance especially in windows guest is horrible.

@HUNTER` - Yeah I agree, it can be pretty bad, but definitely helps if you install guest additions. Still it's no where close to a baremetal install. Mainly, it's great for giving distros a try before jumping into them or simply testing out setups before applying them to a main computer. Great for beginners to get their footing as well.

You probably need to enabled hypervisor (VT-x AMD-v) support in your BIOs.

lol I'm not sure what you mean but you shouldn't be trying to open an exe on a Mac. You need a .dmg extension for a program install.
