is your saw binding? maybe its the battery, maybe the saw motor? or maybe its just time for a new blade.

I have a Ryobi saw and realised that it doesn’t have enough power compared to a friend’s Makita. If I free hand cut, the blade almost certainly binds. My thinking is that free hand cuts are not as straight and the moment there is any binding, the blade will catch and stop. Does that make sense? I get around this by making sure I use a guide to cut as straight as I can and taking a few cuts by taking out 10mm at a time or something like that with the depth adjustment. Hope that helps.

My skillsaw is heating up right at the center. The bolt that holds the blade becomes so hot that it produces smoke after a few minutes of running the circular saw. However, this does not happen when I run the saw without the blade. The blade is not too old. I am thinking of trying another blade to see what happens. This problem started after I used the saw to cut 5-6 concrete pavers (with a diamond blade). I did clean up the saw well and don't see any debris from that use. Do you have any idea why this might be happening?

my blade has one tooth broken, will that makes a difference? or do I need to replace the blade? it's not cutting good and it makes smoke I notice that the blade is very dirty it has a lot of brownish on both sides, could that be the problem or that missing tooth?

maybe combo the tooth and the stuff on the blade is binding with the wood putting extra friction on the blade/motor.

Or maybe it could be something else. I believe I could take your brand new blade and in a very short time and without destroying it or damaging it to the casual inspection make it about as useless as your old blade. The suttle difference would be to eliminate the KERF. A blade with all it's teeth absent it's Kerf is useless for cutting. Ask anybody that is into saw sharpening and they will concur. I learned this the hard way and after a lot of struggling with a specialized tool I had. Put the Kerf back in and it cut like new. Those wide teeth on the tips is actually the Kerf. So you had your finger on the fix but they may not really be wider but just look like it. A tool to set the Kerf has nothing to do with the actual sharpening of the blade. On the other hand I could be wrong but not likely. Happy cutting Jeff.....

@@ArizonaHotHomestead this is also my problem. i have to ryobi 7 1/4 circular saw. i am using foam insulation board to cut on. i am using the Kreg Jig Accu-Cut. I have to Diablo 40 teeth blade. brand new. 5 ah battery fully charged. butttttt when my saw touches the wood, it stops. i let it get to full speed but the instant i touch the wood, the blade stops. i don't know if it's my weight distribution or technique. i am a beginner. i don't think the blade is being pinched. this was my first try ever. the first cut started off buttery smooth for 2 inches then the blade stopped. i looked on the other side of the plywood and it hadn't cut all the way through. so the depth isn't set too much, it was actually set too little. but now my blade has stopped cutting the wood at all. it just stops everytime it touches the wood. please help.
