But if that is the lesson he wanted to teach others, he could just bring them to the edge of death, only to save them at the last minute. Here, we learn why he held on to the philosphy that they had to do it themselves so strongly. It was already something he believed before his suicide attempt and his failed attempt cemented his belief. After all, he realized how much he wanted to live the moment he had the option of either bleeding to death or removing the piece himself.
