@rdp16rulez4 жыл бұрын
I get what you're saying, but then you lose John's message of making the traps survivable. Amanda didn't get that. Neither does Hoffman. But in order for your ending to work, Zep also has to live so that he can die in Amanda's place. The Umbrella stuff feels more like Amanda's work, while the majority of part 4 and 5 feel like Hoffman's work. I think we both agree though that although it isn't shown in depth, Dr. Gordon is probably the best of the apprentices. Him, or the guy from Jigsaw.

She was William's sister, right? Not his wife? Also I feel like Decker and I have 2 different definitions of "retcon". My definition of a retcon is when a later work in a series goes "you know that established canon that was stated in an earlier instalment? Well forget it, it's not canon anymore, because we're NOW saying that THIS is canon instead". As messy and convoluted as the SAW series is, I don't think it ever actually commits MY definition of a retcon- except for that "Hoffman used a serrated blade instead of a scalpel" thing, which I didn't notice because I never took note of the original on-screen implement used. If the SAW series is guilty of anything, it isn't "THAT didn't actually happen- THIS actually happened", but rather "yes, that DID happen- but here's the REAL reason WHY". Which hey, could be just as irritating to some viewers, but technically the whole thing still works as a consistent storyline. Personally I kinda like it when it's done well. That's what a plot-twist is, right? By definition? A sudden shift in perspective that changes how you see the story? I don't see it as being punished for paying attention, but rewarded. For instance, the whole Amanda-killing-Lynn thing makes much more sense now. It's still stupid imo, but SAW VI reduced its stupidity by 80%. But hey, I'm not the one who makes a living discussing film and scripts online, so I fully accept that my definition of "retcon" might be incorrect VS Decker's definition. btw does anybody else LOVE the "Pound Of Flesh" trap? That's classic SAW goodness right there. Having to actively and willingly mutilate yourself, inflicting horrific pain and damage, just to escape with your life. And- the essential ingredient- it's shown from the perspective of the victims, not an outside observer.
@coyotecc4 жыл бұрын
Pamela is Williams sister, not his wife. This plays into earlier where you think he's cheating on his wife with his lawyer but he's actually ducking family, but, again, you don't notice because saw starts with implication and clears it up three ways thru the movie😀

The health insurance "denial of coverage" scene is ridiculous agitprop. The scenario is completely absurd. The CEO of a health insurance company wouldn't make a decision to deny coverage for a claim, and denial doesn't happen in face-to-face conversations in the company's office building. The reason given for the denial was so bizarre and convoluted that this CEO comes off as a low-rent comic book villain, wielding arbitrary power because he's just that evil. I don't remember much of anything about Saw VI so I've got a lot to recall as this review continues., but this terrible early scene doesn't bode well for the writing of this movie.

Yes 6 is better than 5 because the game and the people playing the game are more interesting... not by a lot, but they are. Regardless, what's always been appealing about these movies to me was the story of jigsaw, so I enjoy those bits a lot. Btw is it really a retcon when they're just fixing a plot hole or explaining something that wasn't explained? For example, for the longest time I wonder wtf Amanda read in that letter she got. We got an answer to that here. I'm not going to say that they never retconned anything they did, but people liked these movies for the "twist" it brought. The scene from the original movie where John stands up revealing himself as the mastermind behind everything that had just happened was/is iconic and the writers and audience where constantly chasing that moment/feeling of surprise when making/watching these movies... and minor retcons help provide that feeling to fans who pay attention to little details.

Fun fact: i have a pre-existing condition called “Spina Bifida” which i was born with and it’s the reason i’m disabled and my insurance almost never cared except for when i was a little kid and they claimed my condition was “gone” which is bullshit because Spina Bifida never goes away and my royally pissed mom almost took them to court but Lindsay Graham had a chat with them and my coverage was restored instantly.

Funny. My mom got in a car accident and needed to get disability and everyone was dragging there feet but Lindsay Graham stepped in and it got done real quick. There's a lot of national talk about how he's shit but he's done right by us. What you do is a lot more important than what you say.

Did anybody watch the competition show Scream Queens on VH1!? It was a bunch of actresses competing for a role in the next Saw movie. I hadn’t watched a Saw movie after the 2nd because I was bored of them, but the show was awesome 👏🏻

After 3 I watched the reviews to see if I cared enough to watch the full films

I recently finished The Witcher, and the confusing time sequence in the show reminds me of the Saw franchise.

You gonna watch Belzebuth? I only just now found out about it because it had Tobin Bell in it and I cant seem to find a video of yours on it even though it seems sorta up your alley.

I can't believe that William saved anyone. I mean they all had pre-existing condition of knowing him.
