Great video! This is giving me some great cabinet ideas for our converted attic bedroom! All 4 walls are vaulted so this will be a great starting point for cabinets, shelves and desk space.

Excellent project, very well done.... Notch the Crown around the 5" trim is one option or you can run a small cleat to match the 5" trim all around the cabinets to build out the ceiling so that the crown is flat against the molding or 5" molding and not the ceiling itself. Of course it does not have to be 5" but 3/4" would work maybe 2" or something. Use a 1 x 6 or 1 x 8 cut 2 or 3 times to make the trim for around the cabinets. You can miter the edge to fit close to the face if you want but the Crown will cover that gap anyways... Cheers...

Doing only some occasional diy projects at home and learning at the same something new. I planning to buy a wardrobe from IKEA for our loft room and will need to make a clean cut from those parts because we have slope on the roof/ceiling something similar as you had in the video. So would like to ask you please if you would be able to share your knowledge how can I measure that slope on the ceiling and make a clean cut. Because I was cutting earlier some wood with circular saw and cut not every time were nice and clean on one or the other side. Thanks in advance 🙏

Did you bevel the front edge of the top cleats on the track saw ,and how did you determine the blade angle ? Great looking cabinets I must say ☺

I can't remember and I can't tell from the video. But if I did, I would have done it on the table saw. Probably would have held the cleat in place and traced the angle with a pencil. Then lined the blade up with that.

I would imagine you could do larger wardrobe cabinets in the same way. Sliding doors can be done in so many different ways -- you'll have to do some research and decide how you want to tackle them.

Hi Brian. Hey how would you go around the crown. 1. notch the crown or notch the 1x5 to accept the crown. or 2. pre make the crown wraps. then attach then run straight pieces with coped ends ? personally I think I would make a three sided wrap see what it looks like.

L’m still trying to figure out how you found the angle of the wall the cabinet was up against. L’m trying to build something similar but don’t know how to calculate the angle as well as the Dimensions. Can anyone give me some tips

measure the height of the furthest point (where back of cabinet will be) and the height of the closest point (front of cabinet). Mark those two heights on the front edge and back edge of your board. Front point will be higher, back point will be lower. Draw a line from point to point, and that Line will be the angle you can cut along

Use an angle finder or two scraps of wood to template the angle. Then lay that template on a piece of plywood and cut a test "side" to make sure it'll fit. And test it in multiple places in case your ceiling is imperfect.

So you made all of it out of plywood except the one long shelf, which should have been plywood??

+thedge7 I used MDF for that shelf because I wanted it to be smooth on both the top and bottom. I used sanded plywood for all the other cabinet parts because only one side was ever exposed. The non sanded side of that plywood is pretty rough so I didn't want to use it for a shelf.
