After the biggest stow storm that I've ever encountered hits my place head on I'm stuck trying to dig out with my Kioti DK40se HST. Although I've always had no problem clearing snow with this tractor and snowblower combo, today is the day I realize that a machine double this size would be best. Guess I"ll have to put that on my wish list for down the road. For now, I better get back to work and make the best of it because if the snowmobile getting stuck was any indication, this snow is DEEP and sure isn't going to move itself. Here we go!

This is totally my fault. I'm sorry you're receiving all of the snow. You see, I bought a brand new tractor and snow pusher for the snow this year. And that has pretty much guaranteed I won't get any snow. But it looks like you're getting it all!

Hi Sandy! Your commitment to quality content is something to behold. I keep reminding myself not only are you moving MASSIVE amounts of snow, but you are also having to wade waste deep in it to clear brush. Then there is the chain sawing to boot. Most fellas, including me, would be congratulating themselves for doing that much, but you don't stop there. On top of the Herculean task with the snow, you are also doing multiple camera angles and remaining cheerful in your commentary. Old son, you are showing us how! 🇨🇦 LIFE IN THE GREAT WHITE NORTH 🇨🇦

Hi Sandy: I am about 20 minutes south of you and I had figured us at about 4 1/2 feet . I am set up with kioti CK3510 CHSE with a front mount KS66 approx 30 hpr at mid pto. My little tractor handled this well, but gotta go slow. My biggest challenge is my tractor doesn't make turns really well whole moving thar much snow and I gotta keep a lot of heat on in the cab so it doesn't fog up . Still much better than my walk behind ! Nice video Sandy , cheers !!

Hey Wilf! I believe it with the 4.5' as I don't even think my place was the hardest hit in the area which is wild to even imagine that other places got more. That CK3510 sure is a nice machine! I've seen them in person and I would go for one of those if I didn't have my machine I bet. I agree with ya about making turns. My tractor doesn't turn too well either making turns even with the rear mount due to my tires not getting traction. The front mount sure would be comfortable I bet. Glad you liked the video

Holy moly, I don't envy you! That's when fun snow becomes work snow. My stepdad unexpectedly passed away recently, now I'm getting a crash course in learning how to run his tractor ( Branson) to keep my Mom plowed out. I usually use my 4 wheeler to plow so its been kinda fun using the tractor...and faster! There's also a grapple with it so my back is looking forward to using that at the sawmill. Here's hoping that snow doesn't melt to fast on ya, that's a whole nother set off problems. As always, take care Sandy✌❄

My wife and I just took possession of her family's acreage in Maine. About 35 wooded acres for us to maintain. Currently I have an old Ford 2N, and intend to run that thing until it blows up. They are geared too fast for a snowblower, which is fine, because my neck hurts just watching you use this thing lol. I will be getting a back blade for snow plowing rather than waste money on another truck. You have convinced me that I can do my own milling, so I am very much looking forward to starting(this year with any luck). Your coworkers seem to be the best part of the job!

Hey Sandy! A big thanks first of all for taking us along on the clean up! I knew there would be some good work for the DK coming after your last vid with the sled recovery! So thanks again for that! Loved all the great angles that you captured while you’re working, it really makes our viewing experience a pleasure! I’m glad that the DK was able to make its way through everything and back to the red pine forest! Do you recall what the shear pin count was at the end of it? Just wondering, nevertheless the DK and the blower definitely put in a good days work for sure. 💯👍. Really some heavy snow there, at times it seemed the blower was plowing an blowing at the same time! Im thinking your method of doing two small passes at a time is a good way to do it and more than likely easier on your equipment. Yes and chains are a must like you say, agreed! Looks like the slab wood pile got buried for sure now lol. Anyways Sandy, it was awesome to go along with you to the red pine forest and be able to see the DK in action as well seeing all the great scenery around as you went :). Take care an be well Sandy! Hello again from Pennsylvania. Another fun filled video. That's the price you pay for having your own land. Some would say it was a lot of hard work. That, to me, would not seem like work. I would view it more as having fun in the snow. Especially when you have such a great tractor and snow blower to do "most" of the work for you. Can't wait to see how many big trees got pulled down by all the snow. That's the sad part in all of this. Heavy snow causes a lot of lost trees. But hopefully you will be able to use them for something after you mill them. It would be great to see you finally being able to ride your snowmobile after getting rid of all the deep snow. You should really make time for some "you" time, so you can at least have a little fun with all this snow. All work and no play. You know the rest. Well, thanks again for sharing. I was just wondering how many shear pins you had to replace while you were snow blowing the trail.

I could never have done that with my little Kubota BX25 and its 50-inch front-mounted snowblower. Last winter, I cleared the path leading to my neighbour's cabin, which had not been cleared all winter. I used my 3 ton excavator to accomplish this, it was fun to dip the bucket into that hard packed snow and lift those mounds of snow effortlessly. Not very fast, but very effective against compacted snow.

The snow looked pretty heavy! I leave near Ottawa and although we received a lot a snow as well lately, it was only half what you've received. It's funny how snowfalls can greatly vary, even when we're pretty close!

Snow blowers are good for cleaning horse paddocks, too. Frozen horse apples fly good with a snow blower. I have absolutely zero complaints with my 2012 Kioti CK27, blew snow with it for 5 years, then started using just the bucket and back blade. I have the 60" front mount blower. I also have a V plow for it.

Wow!!! Your area took a beating too! Took 13+ hours to dig out my road with a dirt bucket on my T190 when I got up there on the 2nd. That was after high winds and stupid cold temperatures (-30F) helped sublimation take about a third of the snow fall away! I am now trying desperately to figure cost effective freight to get a SkidPro blower from MN to AK so we don't get in the position where friends can't get down to our place to check on things when needed again! 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Sounds like quite the weather to get dug out from! I can imagine you get quite the storms up your way. Tough to get the freight price reasonable these days I can imagine

Well, like said last time, wowzer. I do like the snow blower. I have one that fit on my 4 wheeler 4' swath, it would have been no good at your place, but it works well for me so far. Your experience makes a person think, tho. 👍

My Yanmar is a smaller tractor, 24 hp. A 60 inch PTO driven snowblower on the back. In answer to the question on why a rear mounted snow blower I keep the bucket on the front and it breaks up snow the blower can't deal with. I do love the hard cab and cab heater! The one thing I wish for is a wiper blade on the back window. And, shear bolts, I keep wrenches and shear bolts in the cab! Last time it was the auger drive chain that gave up on me!

Yesterday, we got a big wet snowstorm of more than 2 feet. Not as big as what you got. I definitely could not have cleared the snow in this video. I have a 2025R with a MK Martin pull type in the back and a snow pusher on the loader. My drive way is about 800m, so I like the idea of going forward. I had to take a couple of cuts. My storm was at the limit of my machine. What saved me was the snow pusher, I have a lot of room so it makes the snow pusher practical.

Those snow pushers are great! I also like the pull type snowblowers and I think I'd like to try one at some point to see how they would do here. MK Martin make great units. Thanks for coming along for the tour Roger

Just finished cleaning up my own snow mess! Now I'm working on clearing the roof of my house. I'm not big on working on the roof, but there's so much snow up there that my turbines are covered and I'm getting icicles and ice dams. It's supposed to get up to around 34 degrees Fahrenheit tomorrow, so I'm hoping some of that ice will melt if I finish clearing all the snow. Just purchased a Wallenstein logging winch and I'm hoping to be able to pick it up next week. That will give me the ability to get logs out of the woods and to my driveway. (If I don't spend the rest of the winter plowing snow!) Got some dead oaks close to my house, so that winch will come in handy in guiding them down someplace more suitable than my roof. Well, I'd better get up on the roof. It's not going to shovel itself! Hang in there. Spring is only three or four months away!

Morning Sandy! Got a kick outta seeing a dog body moving through the snow, with no legs visible, lol! I noticed that the sheds held up with all the weight on the roof ! Points to a good build! When you are blowing snow, I noticed you allowed some branch material to pass through, and wondered how big of a diameter would you chance going through, before you get out to move it out of the way?! Hopefully, you've never had any heavy limbs get lodged into the 2nd stage area!
@sawingwithsandy
@sawingwithsandy Жыл бұрын
Hey Bruce! The old Koda dog sure likes being out in the snow but not when it's that deep haha. I normally hit quite a few small branches about an inch or so in diameter and they break up and pass through the machine without issue (pine branches that is). Anything bigger I'll avoid if I can to ensure I don't damage the blower. Every once in a while I don't see a branch or something similar and I break a shear pin off

When you have that much snow inside your shed and on the saw I’d recommend a leaf blower to clear ist out. Unfortunately only works with fresh powder. Soggy wet stuff will be a bit tricky.

I had a front snowblower on my Kubota compact tractor. That was the cat's ass. When I bought my new tractor I opted for a front plow instead. We just don't get the big snow, anymore, here in Southern Ontario and I got tired of cleaning up stones 30' into my yard in the spring. LOL. The front plow can move a couple feet deep, no problem.
